So I made a deal with that dingbat from New Mexico for a hood for my Valiant. I paid him via paypal and after promising me 3 times he would ship the hood this week not only has he not shipped it but I saw where it actually sold on ebay. I put in a dispute with paypal to try to fix this problem, if possible.

Less than an hour later I get an email saying it's shipped and ready to go. I will need to pick it up at greyhound bla bla bla.
Now he says he can't/wont ship the hood unless I close the dispute.
If I close the dispute it can't be reopened and he's right back to either putting this off or downright screwing me.

After I told him I would close the dispute only after getting the hood he tells me since that money is frozen he can't use the $80 to ship the hood.
This assclown has over 1500 auctions up and makes thousands of dollars per day on his overpriced parts. How can I believe he doesnt have 80 flipping bucks to ship this.:banghead3::banghead3:

He says I can either close the dispute and he will ship it tomorrow or Sunday...Im pretty sure greyhound won't ship on Sunday, OR I can get my money back in about 3 weeks.

Ebay is getting to be about as bad as CL

I would tell the seller that based on his behavior so far, you don't trust him to ship it if you were to close the dispute and thus won't close it until it's shipped. If he won't ship, do whatever is necessary to get your money back and cease your dealings with this guy. If you lose the hood, so be it.

I know what you mean about ebay being a pain sometimes, but I've had many more good experiences on there than bad, and I've gotten good parts that I wouldn't find in a lifetime of searching swap meet vendors and checking classified ads. Sometimes there's just no other way to get parts, so I continue to use ebay.

Well right now we are just going back and forth. Since I paid him minutes after we made the deal and he has told me three times that he would ship it and hasn't shipped it yet, I think it's me that has more of a chance on getting screwed.
The guy has me over a barrel, the only hood I've found in all the searching, matching color and everything.

This SOB better not screw me or you won't be seeing me on this board for a while. I lifted the dispute because Im tired of typing the same thing and reading the same response.

Guy sounds like a screwball to me.
How was it still on eBay after you paid him for it?
Did he ask you to make the payment through PayPal, but not using the eBay listing?

I don't know if this will work for you but it did for me. I once had a dispute with a seller on ebay and after a bunch of back and forths with a guy who was real jerk, I filed a complaint with the police in his town. They paid him a visit (I actually talked to the police) and I had my money back via certified mail in three days. Basically if someone takes your money over the internet or via the mail, and don't follow through then they are committing fraud, which is a felony. And I didn't threaten the seller with going to the police, I just did it. I'm sure he crapped his pants when the cops showed up at his door.

    This.

And I would have not closed the dispute. Now you have nothing to back you up. As far as PayPal is concerned, by closing the dispute, you told them that you are happy with the transaction and that it is completed (they will also now unfreeze his account and the money in it which is where he was hurting). The guy can now tell you to pound sand and keep both the hood and your money if he chooses to. I hope the best for you.

That's a good idea. I could use that as a last resort. I would really rather not have it come to that.

If he does that it will be a while before he gets anything sold on ebay.
I'm hoping he doesn't make me go beast mode but if he does it will be his own doing. I closed it because I was tired of arguing about this. :deadhorse:

New mexico isn't so far away that I couldn't pay him a visit.

If he has promised to ship on Monday, I'd go ballistic on Tuesday if you don't receive a VALID shipment tracking number.

It's not like the guy lives in another country. I agree that if you have paid for the part and the shipping, and he doesn't ship and provide a tracking number (definitely get it insured for damage), that you file a complaint with his local police dept.
Save copies of all your corespondence with him and keep a diary of all your phone conversations as well.

It's supposed to be shipped out today...again I guess he just needed a fire lit under him to get it done. He seemed to respond much faster after I opened the paypal dispute.
    Thanks for the offer.
