Yeah but in Jersey you also have Jug Handles. You'll notice when I visit NYC I spend all my time in NJ on Interstates. The day you find me on Route 1 is the day I am lost and pulling my hair out looking for a ramp to get back on I-80.

Even tho I hate the damn things, the smartest way these people here control traffic speeds, is HUGE speed bumps at every intersection on secondary streets and then they put them at cross walks and even spread out down the streets to keep traffic from going to fast. These are not some that you can slow down and bounce across, these are ones that will tear the hell out of your junk unless you creep over them and sometimes even have to take them at an angle so you don't bottom out. Some are painted with lines, some are concrete and stick out, others are blacktop and blend right in and you don't dare go fast because unless you cruise that street and know where they are, they jump right out at the last second.

We have one RA in Newnan that went in 3-4 yrs ago. A lot of discussion by city council with several nay sayers :naughty: convinced they would never work. It was built anyway and seems to be working out very well. :)

I know of ONE in my area. It is at the high school outside of Gaylord. From what I see, people just treat it as an obstacle in the road and just blow straight through as fast as they can without hitting the curbs. Thankfully the only time I ever have to go through it is when I'm hauling wood on the weekend.

I can't imagine using one when the traffic is heavy. The ONLY way to use it is to cut somebody off. Heck, most of the time people still get bent out of shape if I pull out 1/4 mile in front of them. Right of way = how much money you got, or how big of a truck you got.

Thinking more on these circles, I remembered I had made a test video when I got a new camera a couple of years ago. It is a pointless video driving home from grandmas, but I just happen to drive by 3 traffic circles. @ 8:20, 9:20 and 13:30.

The large ones have greatly improved traffic flow compared to the previous stop sign and blinking light setup we had, The small neighborhood one is just meant to slow people down I guess.

Well....the ones that I have gone through are NOT the simplistic city ones that fannie shows...

They are rural. One is at the confluence of 3 hwys coming together into another larger hwy. I'm telling you...it's like a maze with yield signs and arrows all over the damn thing. It is flat out dangerous and you can't figure out how to stay on the route that you want to continue on. And they are all that way. I think these are just another way to steal taxpayers money. Or to thin out the herd!

That thing in Scott's last picture looks like a vulture waiting for some youg guy to crash his motorbike!
About round abouts and speedbumps. Our little county has a million speed bumps of all sizes and shapes. Back in the midwest we had those too. But they were called potholes. Down south they have to build their own car destroyers!:slap:

I like 'em. Back when I was driving in Qatar they have them every intersection. So much more efficient than traffic lights. It helped driving a 8 ton Suburban or the 24 passenger bus. Big always gets the right of way in the middle east.

That Suburban was armored and had 4" thick plexiglass in the windows. You never would guess how hot it could get when the a/c went out. OMG! 70 to 140 degrees in about a nano-second. It had a hot rodded 454 with about a trillion horse power. The brakes were mere suggestions tying to stop all the weight.

In another life I was a trucker too. So many people thnk just because you have the right turn lites on and move to the left to turn right, they can move on up on the right in that empty space. Don't take a trucker long to figure how to keep the tail over on the right till the last moment.
So is this what happens to a trucker in a roundy round?

Thanks for the drive, quiet but a nice drive. Now I know how a little dog feels when they're on the dash and you pull away...tip off and all you see is sky.
The RA are alot like the one I pass through on my way to work. Thanks again for the ride along...Ian had music when he took us to the beach..just sayin...

Sorry, that's why I posted the times, to save you from boredom. I don't usually listen to music when I am driving.
