Yes, it took a lot of work; complete custom exhaust system, fuel lines, brakes, wiring, body work, suspension, differential, buying and refurbishing turbine wheels, etc etc etc... What did not need attention?
But finally our 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park is ready to drive! And it drives like a dream... Very peppy, peppier than our old blue one, shifting and braking perfectly, better handling...

The only thing to do is repairing doors, but we wait for better weather (it is very cold in our shed and painting the bottom edges (which we already have done) was troublesome because of that).

We only have to repair these damaged doors (damaged rear door and the front door has some rust):

Happy to see it on the road, Ina!:D That is a beauty for sure.:yup: You did a lot of work and I know it was done right and the car will drive like a dream. Are you going to repaint the door bottoms? Sorry...don't be angry with me...I had to ask because it is the only thing that sort of stands out as not matching. You match that up and the car is looking NEW!(y) Really glad you are happy with it. I sure would be!

Yes, of course, we will repaint the door bottoms. We only repainted the rear and wheel edges because they were rusty. But we wait for warmer weather before we repaint the other parts. And haven't decided yet what to do with the woodgrain. It is in very good condition except the left rear door. But I am afraid you will see the difference.

My career was always involved in the creative industries. I see where your scratches are and what I always did was use permanent Sharpie markers. I would fill in with the light color (on one of my light woodies) and then use a medium and darker one to blend in the grain lines. I am good at that sort of thing and a perfectionist. I have to say....you couldn't tell even at 2 feet.:yup: You can wax right over the permanent Sharpies and it will last a very LONG time and can be touched up periodically. I even did one for a friend that was a little larger and I didn't think it would work on an area so large. It worked surprisingly well. you could see it at 5 or 6 feet if you were really looking for it. The area on your car would be a breeze to do, would be cheap and I would bet it would turn out a perfect enough blend as to be pretty much invisible.:2cents:

Hi Ina, do you think you will have the windows redone with the dogs as on your blue car?
