I was actually trying(not very successfully) to enquire if this car is a 1940 Packard Super 8? Where did Barto go anyway??? Posts up a car then leaves...:16suspect1:

1935 or 36 packard Shooting Break, rather than a station wagon.

Sure,in the beginning large land holders in England, had a horse drawn wagon with a cover on it, for hauling the guests out on shooting partys.
A break is a type of wagon ,hence shooting break.
As the Cnetury moved into the 20th Century ,the same landed gentry needed a car to do the same job so chassis would be purchased and a box body built onto them. The name shooting break stuck with them.
A station wagon or Depot hack as a very similar vehicle but ,in general ,larger and not as luxurious as your lordships Rolls Royce ,Bentley etc Shooting break.
The rear doors on a break would fold down so it can be used a seat and place to sit the purdys whilst the beaters scared a brace of pheasants or Grouse so they could blasted into oblivion.
This is a Bentley 4.25 Liter Shooting break of a similar Vintage .

Many shooting brakes are sedan conversions now. All have only 2 doors...not counting the rear hatch. Think Barto's shooting brake Jag.

Did we guessed this one already? Maybe an easy one, but a wagon on the beach is what this thread started with:
