Can someone tell me where the partial VIN is on a 413 Ci wedge engine is. The manual says its on the boss on the left side I am not finding it easily. Is that the left side looking out from the windshield or left side looking in from the hood. Also, how many numbers will it have ? Do I have to remove anything to see the numbers? Any information will be appreciated. Does anyone know where I can run a Vin this old to get the history of ownership? Thank you.

Don't have an answer for you, but I don't think theres any way to tell for certain if its the original motor (if thats the reason for your question). The date code on the engine, should be the same or even earlier than the build date of the vehicle, but not too far prior to the build date on the car (I guess its possible that it could be a month or two earlier than the build date on the car). It wasn't till the 68 model year that Chrysler engines could be identified for certain as numbers matching to the body.

Normally when talking about sides on a vehicle it is from inside looking out the windshield. So when outside near the grille the left side would be on the right. Does that make sense? :rofl2:

No VIN on a Chrysler block till 68' Partial on the pad forward the intake under the A/C compressor on 68' up only too. Engine size stamped there & different markings for oversize factory pistons

Ok thank you. Yes i was trying to do a numbers match, I just wanted to see if Chrysler fixed and put the original engine back in when it was still under warranty back in 1964-65 or if they put a new one in. Also, I was under the impression that they did numbers matched back then.

I'll have to take your word for this info! They only let me in the back door last time I went. Which means I was already up front!:162:
