I have an 89 CV that I spec'd and ordered for my mother in 89. Tried at the time to get the 351 but could not so it is a 5.0 All biege, no woodgrain, she didn't like that it faded on previous cars, leather seats, power and the trailer towing package which gave the heavier suspension and cooling, electric windows/locks, delay headlights/wipers. the original AOD died at 90k, dealer replaced, lasted 20k, died, I replaced with some upgrades, still ok at 135k. Has a reciever hitch, shin getter, but still has never pulled a trailer. It was her car, everything she wanted and drove it until she stopped driving about 4 years ago. Plan to keep it forever. I have a 429 from a 70 cs that I had that I keep thinking will reside there some day..............maybe. My wife drives it now daily, my grandaughter learned to drive in it, no one but me really likes it, maybe all will learn some day.............
Welcome to the forum!! Sounds like a cool car with a great story, and you're right, we are wagon people, 95% of people are not.
to the wagon train, boat. I love the stories when the wagon stays in the family! Keep that wagon in good shape and never let it go. You will regret it if you do. Glad you found us and we are glad to have you and your wagon. Got pix?
Welcome aboard. I'm drawing a blank. What is a "CV". Not a Country Squire or a Colony Park, but it has room under the hood for a 429? Please post a photo or two.
Jim,, How about Crown Victoria... Altho I was not aware that the wagons were also called Crown Vic's...
Yes, if it had wood, it was a Country Squire or Mercury Colony Park; without they were known as Crown Vic or Grand Marquis wagons. Cool that you special ordered it and it's still in the family. Never let that puppy go. Pictures would be great; we all love pictures.
12,000 miles away, working in China, so no pics for now will update with som pics when back at the end of March yeah, badges are "LTD Crown Victoria" same as the sedan of the same vintage, in fact the one on the tailgate is missing, really need to find one, but haven't had any luck yet, that one may be wagon specific??????????
A few other things, came with factory dual exhaust, 8.8 Limited Slip 3.55 gears, big brakes, almost a pick-up with a wagon skin. Even the rear facing seats are tan leather. drivers side seat is starting to split, 99% of it's life only a driver in the car, need to get that recovered. I like driving sitting on a couch much better than having to put a car on
I hadn't thought of that. I would have just thought it would have been called an LTD. So when was the last year of the Country Sedan name for full size Ford wagons without the wood-like trim?
Jim, that's an excellent question, the answer to which I don't know. I think the first Country Sedan came out in '52 and I'm positive they offered one all the way through the 1972 model year. I'm not sure, however, if they carried that name over when they redesigned all full size Fords for '73.
Bro it's great to hear that you want to keep it forever.. I was just Talking to one of My Grand kids the other day and he was telling me that Noting I build will go to waist... I have Grand Kids that Will keep them alive. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
