It all started to go downhill when PMD was told by GM brass to forget about "we drive excitement."

The new mantra became "we drive a badge."
Chevrolets with plastic cladding and plastic badges called Pontiac?
    :cussing:
Then, to add insult to fatal injury, the mantra became "we drive a number."
WTF is (or was) a G 6? :cussing:

    Who cares?
    Apparently almost nobody.

Well, you will NEVER, EVER see a Korean car in my driveway.

And the people who voted them into office.

Sad story. At my age I should be still establishing myself in life but the dealership where I worked was already on the books for being closed by Chrysler in 2008 when this auto industry fallout got in full swing. It also came right after the best 4 years in the business for me. I worked 6 days a week 12-14 hours a day because we had so much work, then all of a sudden it stopped in a hurry. We didn't know we were one of the dealerships already marked for closure until the very end. I saw the writing on the wall 9 months earlier and left to persue other options which lasted a couple years. My point being people my age should be contributing to the economy by buying new cars and what not but instead we are just trying to get out of debt. I had dreams of building my dream house on our property, now I have 8 years left on the home I have now and I just want to get it paid for. Paid my wife's van off and intend to keep it as long as I can. My projects have been reduced to low budget builds instead of the restorations we did on some of our other cars. I know all this hurts our economy and our government wants us to spend but it comes at the expense of personal financial ruin. I have had to start over twice in my 39 years the last being just a year ago and damned if I want to do it a third time. Just my opinion but that is what happened to our America!

SORRY OFF MY SOAP BOX NOW BUT MY HEART GOES OUT TO THOSE PEOPLE AND OUR GREEDY GOVERNMENT CAUSED MOST OF THIS, THEY FORGOT THE CONSTITUTION WAS PUT IN PLACE TO LIMIT THE POWER OF THE GOVERNMENT NOT THE POWER OF THE PEOPLE. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY AND HOPE I LIVE TO SEE IT GREAT AGAIN.

Hope I don't offend anyone this is just my opinion and appreciate all the men and woman who fight and have fought for us, Thanks.

This is a station wagon forum for discussion of wagons. We have also been given the freedom to act a little silly and get slightly off topic now and then. :)
We all know it is not the place to talk politics or religion. But when politics is ruining so many, we just voice our opinions because that's what's buggin us.
America is hurting and this car hobby is hurting because of it. I often wonder what will become of our toys in a few years. Till then, we will keep tinkerin and doing the best we can with what we've got.
There is another thread about what we do to encourage us finish a project. Sadly because of the economy I have seven unfinished projects that will most likely remain that way. Yet I still mess with one of them now and then.
We can dream until the nightmare takes over.

Whats even more sad is, China will probably buy it, like they've been doing everywhere else in the country. They been buying up property all over Florida, my brother lived in Cape Coral and he said overnight, the empty houses in his subdivision were sold and within 8 months of closure, the houses were filling up with Chinese right off the planes and none could speak a lick of English.

He said it was time to move out, before his 3 dogs and cat came up missing. :rofl2:

Seriously, he move up to Greenville, NC because he transferred from being Home Depot store manager in St. Pettersburg, to the Home Depot up there in Greenville. Sadly, only to have it close down 10 months later, because Lowes is the place that everyone buys from in Greenville. Now he works for Lowes as assistant manager at $9k less a year.

I have an idea, lets all put our money together and buy DC and kick the G'Ment out. Then we wont see this chit happening anymore. Its a good thought anyhow....

Started well before Black Obama, was happening back when daddy Bush setting his family up good in the Oil business, when we was fighting for Oil in the Gulf. I lost 2 jobs because the shops closed up and moved out of country when Daddy and Bastard JR Bush's were in office.

A Pontiac native and booster for 60 years, and an owner of three Pontiac cars yet today, in my view the cause was neither Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative. Pontiac the car died because it had no champions within GM, and the company overall allowed the loss of a full generation of would-be buyers to uneven quality and failure to service its customer base. Pontiac the city died due to GM's resulting painful contraction and a concurrent loss of civic leadership. Manufacturing is the basis of every strong economy. Hope it is not too late for us in the U.S. to recover it.
