Just saying hello from Rhode Island. I'm the new owner of a 1972 Ford Country Sedan. It's in nice shape although it developed an electrical problem that I'm trying to sort out.
Thanks for the welcome! I got it a little over two weeks ago. I found it on craigslist. It was in Tennessee. I hired a company to go inspect it for me and then had it shipped to me here in Rhode Island. It has a 351 Windsor with A/C and it also has the jump seats in the rear cargo area. The body is in nice shape though the previous (original) owner had a habit of taking a rattle can to it whenever he had a nick or chip in the paint, so it has blue paint splotches all over it. May have helped save the body though. The interior is in decent shape though I'll need to get the front seat redone at some point. First thing I need to figure out though is the electrical problem. It didn't occur when it was inspected nor when I took it for it's first drive. The original owner was a tinkerer too, he jury-rigged a GM alternator into at some point. Don't know if that is the cause of my problem or not. I'm having the original Motorcraft alt rebuilt and then go from there.
Oh I should have added also that I have two other cars: a 1966 Plymouth Satellite 2-door hard top and a 1959 Edsel 4-door sedan. The Plymouth is in nice running condition. The Edsel is currently a work in progress. I sold my 2002 PT Cruiser so I could get the wagon, so I currently don't own a car newer than 1972. We have my wife's Corolla though
Welcome!!! Sounds like you have a garage full of awesome!! Really nice wagon, this is a great Forum for info or friendship or good laughs.
Nice Plymouth you have there! Unfortunately I only have a one car garage which is where the Edsel resides at the moment. My Plymouth is stored in my parent's garage. The wagon for now, will have to reside outside. I hope I can find a cover big enough for it. Once the Edsel is mobil again (I'm working on the body right now and have the front clip off of it), I'll take my Plymouth back to the storage facility where I used to rent a space, move the Edsel to my parent's and put the wagon in the garage.
That's funny, I tried to post a reply but it said it had to be checked by a moderator first. None of my other posts had that happen.
Depends a little on the post, the first 8-10 might do that once they make sure you're not trash talking or swearing a lot. Sometimes Stef gets to them real quick too. After that you can post at will.
I hope so. I want to post a reply to a "parts for sale" posing. I need to find an interior part for the wagon (forgot to mention it in my previous posts).
Very nice 72 Country Sedan. Exact same color as the 71 Squire my Dad bought new and which I learned to drive on. Does it have the matching blue interior too? Now can I see a pic of the 66 Satellite? I know its not a wagon, but I like seeing all the vintage cars and the 66 Satellite is one of my favorites.
Yes the interior is blue too. Here are some photos of my Satellite and one of my Edsel. I haven't done anything to the Satellite yet, not that it needs much. I have been working on the Edsel though. I have a blog of my progress (or lack thereof). I can post a link to it if anyone is interested, and if it's allowed.
Welcome to the forum, allizdog. Nice wagon you've got there. Usually, you see those early 70's Country Sedans in some sort of gly green, with an equally ugly green interior. Nice change yours....... I'm glad you mentioned hiring the inspection service to look at the wagon for you. That's one of the things we periodically recommend to people here, but few actually do. When you have a chance, could you post a thread in 'General Discussions' on your experience with the inspection service? Thanks. And again, Welcome! Marshall
Welcome aboard! Like seeing the Ford Wagons so well represented - looks like you've got an nice one there! Planning any modifications? I'm in the middle of lowering mine 3" all around.
