Welp- I've gone ahead and joined yet another Forum~ lucky for you guys it was this one!!! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima I am retired from the US NAVY. During those twenty 'fun' years, I (mostly) worked on helicopters. I got to sail on many different aircraft carriers, two destroyers, a Cruiser, and a frigate. I did three Western Pacific Cruises, one to the Med, and I also got to go around South America once. Sometime during all of that I got title to one of the Family's many Studebakers~ Betsy is a 1957 Studebaker Parkview. I drove her for a bit in high school, as did both of my brothers~ she has only been in my family since 1962 or so. I've got her about half restored, but progress is slow, as there are six other Studes (and a '58 Packard) in my little StudeFleet. There are two other '57 wagons, and many '63s also in the Family. I guess that's about it for now. In the meantime- I look forward to keeping the StudeRumors headed in the right direction, and learning a bunch about other awesome long roofs in the process...
StudeDave57. I really like that little wagon. Hope the others are just as nice, or will be. Closest we are to a Studebaker is our 22 year old has had a 1950 4-dr Commander since he was around 9. Talk about a barge! Have fun looking us over and playing with your Studdies. Lucky for you you joined this forum.
First of all, Dave, thank you for your military service. Second of all, welcome to the forum, glad to have ya. That's a great lookin' ride you got.
Hi Dave, to THE forum...so you tried the rest now your here for the best, well we've been waiting for yah...glad you finally found us.
Very nice! Welcome! Congrads on the retirement! Those Studebaker wagons are pretty unique looking... great ride!
Very pretty little Studebaker! Love the lines of the chrome. Dang.... Hint, we like lots of pictures 'cause we are mostly guys here. Love to see the Engine, interior and anything else cool and entertaining you have to post!
Welcome Dave! Nice Stoody! I would also like to thank you for your dedication and service to your country, hi from Utah!
Great picture and welcome aboard. I like how on so many of the 50's wagons. the rear fenders stick out a foot or more past the rest of the car. Thank you for your service. Now, wheres the pics of all those other Studebakers you mentioned?
Welcome to the madness Dave. Thanks for your service to the country and enjoy your retirement. We don't have many Studebaker owners on here, will be interesting hearing about your fleet(pun intended).
Thank you for the warm welcome folks!!! Pictures, eh? How about these for starters... That's Cleo, Sweet Pea, and Baby. Those three were in San Diego with me during my last 'tour' there. Only Cleo remains 'cuz there's not enough room for her here just yet. 'Ruby' is a 1954 Commander Regal~ Dorothy is a '59 Lark Regal~ I got her in a trade with my Dad. I have not done much to her yet, but my plan is to make her my 'new' daily driver- a role that Sweet Pea has held for over 20 years. A few more pictures can be found here~ http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?3299-StudeDave57-s-Rides-(many-pics) Enjoy!!!
Earlier I posted a reply to this thread, and I have yet to see it pop up. So let's try again, shall we... Thanks to all for the warm welcome!!! My '65 Cruiser named Sweet Pea is my current daily driver~ When I was stationed in San Diego, I had one of my other '57s with me. I also managed to find a sweet '58 Packard while I was there, so I bought it~ Cleo, Sweet Pea, and Baby Very soon I hope to have my '59 Lark Regal named Dorothy take Sweet Pea's place as my driver~ Here is yet one more of my Studes~ Ruby. She's a '54 Commander Regal~ That is all but one of them. I'll save Jewel and some of the Family's cars (including more wagons) for later posts... StudeDave '57
Nice collection Dave. Remember in early 60's while working second job at gas station two brothers had identical white Larks with 289 engines, I believe. They were hot cars for their sizes. Wife's brother had 1957 Golden Hawk with what seems like a 100 gauges on dash. Now that was fast!!!!!!!!!!! As for me, I've had many cars, still a few, and don't remember calling any of them anything except "car" or "wagon" !---Some I've called "damned car" and worse but never real names. I need to work on that. We do have an antique motor home called "Wally."
