Found at a yard sale this summer and paid $300 for it. The owner said it didn't run so I trailered it home. Ended up needing a fuel pump so I replaced it and new fuel. It started right up but had a bad miss. Checked it over and found two bad spark plug wires so I replaced them and it runs like a champ. I wont license it till 2012 so I wont have to go through emissions but that is only 30 days away.

I am already looking forward to a road trip this summer. I put it in the garage last weekend and am giving it the once over.

Looks like it will need a muffler, the passenger door lock repaired the electric motor cycles but no locking action, drivers side rear passenger window wont go up or down but the motor runs.

    Quick Question???
Should there be a orange check engine light on the dash, key on engine off?
I don't have one and thought it should since it has computer control.

    Thanks
    Scott

Not sure if 87 Fords had CEL. You can't see a place for one on panel looking at it all kinds of sideways and scrunching up your face? Nice looking find for $300 btw. Welcome to the forum. :Welcome:

    Thanks MotoMike
After much face scrunching I didn't see a place for a check engine light. I guess that means I will never have to check the engine.

This weekend I replaced the muffler, Installed a new window motor, replaced tranny filter and fluid, changed the oil and filter.

Are these cars supposed to cost money before you can drive them:confused: All in all its a fun project and my daughter cant understand why anyone would want to fix up "as she calls it" an old clunker:eek: How dare her say that.

Welcome to the forum! Great find! As for the question about should these cars cost money before you can drive them......if it has tires or tits, it will cost money:rofl2:. Considering what you paid and what you have done to get it going.....you made out like a bandit!

Well since I brought the wagon home I have repaired the door locks, window motor, replaced the core plug behind the starter, Installed a new muffler, fixed the glove box latch, changed engine and transmission oil.
So last night went to move it so I could shovel the snow off the driveway. As it was warming up i looked over and there was a pool of green growing under it. My first thought was that I had not gotten the core plug in and sealed properly but after further investigation it was the little intake manifold heater hose. I thought cool easy fix, well the one end is simple but they sure do bury the other end where it hooks to the intake manifold. after many wobbly swively extendy tools i got it together.
Still waiting for the first of the year to get tabs so I can drive it. Delayed gratification?

Congrats! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima You snagged a great deal, even with the little fiddly bits you have to fix.

Tell your daughter your fixing so she wont be sitting on the side of the road...:D
