Yup....except....the one you are showing, Xav, I believe is 2WD only. Even though it is a GL the seller didn't mention 4WD. I want a hatchback like that with a stick and 4WD/dual range.
Thanks for thinking of me...I will email the guy and ask if it has 4WD.

I'm a member over at USMB.
The car has to be an 82-89, hatch, 4 speed, dual range. Usually a 82-89 GL hatch. An 81 would do in a pinch for the right money. Not a rust bucket.
Thanks for your help, guys.:yup: :tiphat:

Not to sound like an idiot... But what does Dual Range mean?

The Subey I describe has a lever to pull it into 4WD. If you pull the lever up another notch it goes into low range 4WD. Lower gears give you more pulling power if/when needed.

Cool! I like that. I like that a lot. No wonder you want one. I have seen a couple around here. No idea if they fit the requirements but if I see one I will find out for you.

I was a Subie guy for years.. Love the old dual range and hated when they did away with it. I've had an '83 GL wagon, '85 Brat, '87 GL wagon, '87 XT, '89 XT6, '90 Loyale (converted to dual range)

Was never happy with the '90 though.. they had just changed somehow and didn't feel the same.. so it was my last.

Would LOVE to find another early 80's wagon.. I'm with you and love the rectangle headlights of the GL's Sadly most all of them have long ago turned to dust. Still kick myself in the a$$ for letting a light blue '84 full loaded 40kmi 4x4 turbo, digital dash wagon pass back in '95.. was a rollover total that just needed a roof and some love. Was mint before the wreck. Could have had it for $500 :banghead3: but the roof welding scared me.. If only I knew now that it wouldn't have been hard to get done. Sadly that car ended up transferred to lower level of a friends junkyard where shortly after was flooded by an ice dam so it was crushed without even donating anything to another

I bought a new hatch GL in 82. They are dogs but can climb trees! I loved that car and want another one for a winter driver. The 82-89 GL hatches all kept the right engine and stick tranny 4WD combo. They can be found in the PNW but it's a long way away. Anywhere else you see them they are on their last legs from rust. Yeah, you are right, NY...they never should have done away with that combo. Sad thing is...they kept selling it in Europe. Another car that you can get there and not here.:(
