Beautiful Mark. I love the look of it and I love that it's got a 6 with a "3 on the tree". I'm wondering, however, if the car originally came with the smaller dog dish hubcaps because the wheels are body color. As I recall, if you ordered full wheel covers like yours, (gorgeous btw), the wheels would be black. I'd take this beauty over a Volvo any day of the week, absolutely.
Yep, you guessed it, it had the dog-dishes on there when I got it. I had to swap them out for the upgrade version. She's pretty low-spec. Power nuthin'. Which in my world means less to go wrong.
MarkR, I thought that car looked familiar. The color is unusual, and when you mentioned the drivetrain combo, I knew which one it was. I was watching it in Ebay a couple times: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250883133377 I think you did alright with that one. Other than your minor repair, it doesn't look like it needs much else. With the six and OD, I'd be curious what kind of gas mileage you wind up getting. The only thing about that though, is that with this eng/trans combo, I think the standard axle is 3.50, which might negate any ecomony. But you should get better pulling power and is probably why it feels strong to you. Anyway, the 66 Ford Registries already has it registered, but if you are interested, I can get you in touch with the Registry manager for more info about the car. Again, good to see another 65-67 Ford, especially 66!
Thanks for the pics Mark, your car's condition gives me something to shoot for as I toil away on mine. The deluxe wheel covers make a world of difference and really dress 'er up,too. Great choice! Happy for you and yours, TG
Yeah, it turned out to be a decent car. It's low mileage (63K), but still needed some love. It had recently had a new clutch, but the pedal was all out of adjustment. That u-joint was a few miles away from failing catastrophically, and it needed some other adjustments like points and a stuck choke. Got her running and driving well now. Cosmetically it looks good. The new paint job is pretty good, but must have been masked off by a blind monkey. I spent a couple of evenings with steel wool, a razor, and lacquer thinner getting bits of paint off of the chrome and windows, and it looks pretty darn good now. I'm still wondering why it was ever painted in the first place, though, no signs of any rust or body damage ever. I'll post pix of the engine bay soon. It's roomy under there!
Oh yeah, mileage. The last tank I got around 15.5 with mixed town/highway (more highway). I can start putting more miles on now that she's all dialed in, and hoping to do a little better on the highway.
