I didn't send them Cyber Wizard's entire post, just made reference to some of the bigger points....things being destroyed instead of sold, salvaged or recycled.

What makes me sick is all the records that went in the trash. Really? You are going to dump all the paper work that dates back to the 1960s???? IDIOTS!!

Shame, cause once that is gone its gone. Those are the only records of those cars ever existing. So in like 15 or 20 years from now when those cars are non-existent. In a sense they will have never existed. Sad.....

    calm yourself young gungaden!
i am sure they aren't trying to ex sponge the existence of any cars.
everything has either been electronically transferred or stored in a cold dark mountain....likely both.

You are probably right, well I hope so at least.

I tend to over react. Not many young people give second thought to the classics. Its always what the next and new shiny toy will be. I like the older stuff, they are more fun anyways :dancing:

I was doing some ranting and raving myself. Two days after I got that email, I got another one saying that Ford had bought some guys 1947 Ford pickup for their museum for $800,000 (+ an F350). It turned out it wasn't true, but I fumed about it for quite a while. Not sure I'm one of the "young people" anymore but the sentiment is there.

Ford has all of their production info at least as far back as 1967 digitized. I was able to send Ford the VIN for my '69 Thunderbird and get a copy of the build sheet. That was in 1997, so I don't know if public access to those records has changed, but the information exists.

It's likely true, mp, that info exists at Ford for most, if not all, of their models over most of the years. Still, all the info that was derived at the St. Thomas plant through the hands on assembly workers, not to mention the history of the plant itself and those that contributed, will disappear off the face of the earth. A couple of decades down the road and the St. Thomas plant will be forgotten as though it never existed. While Ford likely has tons of info on the cars that were built there, the plant itself and all the history of the workers will be gone. I find that sad. Especially the way they chose to make it disappear.

So Ford figured out a way to get on our Canadian Bailout tax dollars - tear it down and write it off!!! They've had a good run up here, in the Canadian market, outselling all the big names.:slap:

    So sad, especially the plywood.
