I was thinking more along the lines of secret compartments, holes cut in the rocker panels (remember the French Connection?)

Pull up those sill plates and let's take a look......

What? The car has 19 miles and a completely different set of rims and tires? This is one quirky car/story, that's for sure.

Apparently his dad worked in the steam turbine department for GE as well.

Looks legit to me. Obviously it was just parked and not really prepped for a long term storage. Thus the mold on the steering wheel, rust under the hood. I'm guessing the headliner is shot due to mice. No doubt the keys were misplaced years ago and they had to pop the locks to get in. The door panel is off to replace the lock cylinder, same for the tailgate. Tires went flat over the years.

Cars sit unused all the time. Sometimes people get sick or die and the family just lets them sit. There is a house around the corner from me with two cars in the driveway that I haven't seen move in 13 years. My neighbors say they've never seen them move either. The 72 Firebird has baked paint and flat tires. The 88 Caddy has its vinyl top cracked like the desert and the muffler just fell off. Both have weeds growing around the tires. Yet a brand new looking 2004 Monte Carlo comes and goes as a daily driver. Go figure. Both the other cars are junk now.

At least this wagon looks savable. I just don't see it as desirable to a collector as if it had woodgrain and be fully loaded with options.

OK, I've left a message for the guy named Mike listed in the question/answer section to call me so we can all know the story behind this car. I'll update you on what I find out.

Cars left sitting......Yep, it happens all the time. We moved to Florida in 1994. First came down on a vacation summer of 1989. Until this trip I saw a 46-48 Buick fastback sitting partially under a carport in Georgia each trip past it. In our tiny town there was a 52-53 Ford sticking out of an opened garage until lately. Looked to have been there many years. I could write about dozens more......I wanted them all but have too much junk already....... Plus I have a very nice 1939 Ford deluxe coupe streetrod that sadly sat in Illinois in my garage since sometime mid 70's and still sits here in Florida since I parked it in 1994. Some people die, get sick, even forget what's in the garage or barn. As for me, too many hoobys, not enough time or money. Rather let it sit and rust than give it away for the offers I get. When I die, I'm takin it with me! Yes, there are still low mileage barn and garage finds out there. Even a 1930 Model A truck in central Illinois with a large tree growing next ot the engine.

What's a hooby and why do you have so many?:):) I saw that mistake and usually correct them. Didn't think anyone would notice! Actually it is a code word for BOOBY but since this is a family forum I didn't want anyone to think I'm a pervert!:rofl2:

Cat - Exactly! What will we ever talk about once this ad is gone. I do not believe the car will sell on ebay.
