I'm not sure me or my car are all that exciting, but I'm in love with my car... it's my third Taurus SW... and I just got this one (He's only got 16K, he's dark green and very pretty). I know it's not quite a 'vintage' car, but it's one of the last real station wagons, so I'm hoping I'll find a place here. It's the last of the good Tauruses (before they changed the style in '96 to the strange and plug-ugly....) My plan is to keep this one for at least as long as I have a license. The first one was an '87 and it was totalled. Last one, unfortunately died at 114K... (I wanted to save it, but life got in the way. I'm glad I found this one). There's going to be prying involved with making me give this one up, as it is not just the car I always wanted, but it's also the dark green I fell in love with when it first came out... This makes me strange, but I don't care. I'm in love.

:Welcome: to the forum. Strange I can relate to. Old I can relate to. If you could see the rear of my 1948 Chevy panel truck you would see a Taurus wagon third brake light. Does that make us related and wierd? Enjoy your wagon. I don't care much for newer vehicles but love that model Taurus. Red would be better. But dark green might be fair! Love has a way of making us all act strange.

Taurus and Sable wagons are absolutely worth collecting, and Ford sold quite a few. Like most older wagons, there aren't many left, so congrats on finding one!

Thank you for your warm welcome!

Wow! Thank you so much for your enthusiastic welcome. I will try to scare up pictures soon. Really glad my old wagon is 'wagony' enough!! I know it's not quite a 'classic' yet, except for me... :)

Hey Blue welcome and am glad you found all of us crazies here. Of course you can join in the fun; it's always been my opinion that the Taurus Wagon was one of the best cars they ever built. I worked for a Ford dealer for many years and sold tons of those long roofs. Great car. Post some pics.

    Welcome to the forum!

Hey, if they let me in here with my Subaru wagon, you're a shoe in with your Ford. :yup:

My dad had a couple of Taurus wagons over the years (still drives a Taurus in fact, but it's just a sedan). He bought one the first year the Taurus' came out in 1986, a black one.

I mean BLACK. No grey molding, no pinstripes, nothing but black. Talk about a cool stealth wagon!

That wagon was a gem, at the time I was a 16 year old teenager so of course when I borrowed it now and then (for proms and such, my '67 Mustang did not have A/C) I drove it like I stole it. Never missed a beat.

He eventually traded that cool black one in for a blue and silver '89 model. That one was good looking enough, fully loaded, even had the little back seat.

But lacked "darth vader" coolness of that black one. :)

    Look forward to pics.

I wasn't really big on Fords, I've always been into GM. But I kinda liked the original style Taurus/Sable wagon, before the entire car turned into a structure of jellybeans. "The ol' front wheel drive sleigh."
