so i bought the caprice this week as you all know. well i went to put the 15" tires on it. and had to ditch 2 of them as they were worn out studs (in pa you cant put studs on till nov.) well on my budget at the moment i couldn't afford 2 new tires so i go to a local garage that sells used tires....usually around1/2 tread left. so i go have them mount 2 tires and while they were doing this i took my daughter up to spend a few min with my father in law (they live a block away). i get back and they are closed but the attendant has my keys (they are a gas station also) i get in my car and head home. on the way home the car is pulling to the left... when i get home i notice that the tire on the front is a 225 70 r15 while the rest are 225 75 r15:banghead3: the good news is..they all have darn near new tread! ..ok well monday ill bitch when i take my buick over to get inspected. so jen, delaney and i pile in and head 55 miles to my moms house. i pull out onto the highway. the the car starts pulling wildly to the left and shuddering like its gonna explode... made it to my moms ok. when i got out i looked at the car and noticed the front tire was rotten and the cracks had gotten bigger. the rear new one obviously had broken belts. so when we went out to dinner with my mom she bought me 2 new tires at walmart while we were eating dinner. well the trip back to my moms from walmart was smooth and comfortable (amazing what meham 2 bad tires can cause). so i am awoken this morning at 630 by my mother calling me ...she was pulling out of the garage and she hit my car!!!:banghead3:
well now that its light out. she caught the drivers side doors. dented them but didnt take any paint. not all that noticeable from 10ft away and both doors open fine. next week ill see what happens when i have the door panels off to put in the new speakers and fix the window rollers. i wonder what happened to her honda...we will see come 3:30
if the dents are small you could heat the back side of the dent up with a heat gun then take a rag soaked in cold water and rub over the dent from the other side and it should pop right out and into place without hurting the paint
Cool! Does that really work?.. but only on metal I assume. Dude, Wind, I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like you had one hell of a rain storm in your life that day. Hope everything gets sorted out smoothly and easily for you. Good luck.
New wagon? What? Where? Pictures? BTW, interested in doing the power vent mod? Saw this....... http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15718
Ian, I remember an old newspaper cartoon with a guy having a big black cloud over his head. Do you ever look up? -------------If sorry will help SORRY!
on the newer plastic bumpers a heat gun does a great job of getting them back in shape. I do that trick at least once a day at work cause people are too cheap/poor to just get a replacement bumper. What they don't realize is that for a little bit more they could have already bought a new bumper and had it painted for the same rate the shop i work at charges to remove, repair, and reinstall the bumper
A friend recently bought a pick up truck with several small dents in the doors and bed. No paint damage. He bought a cheap "Paintless Kit" from a Auto Parts store and removed every dent without damage to any paint. The kit uses glue and some kind of darts with a thingie that looks like a wheel puller. The glue comes right off afterward. Looked cheap but worked.
