Welcome aboard Dave. That's a nice '58. I always found it interesting that even though Ford updated the front on the '58's, they carried over the rear end treatment from '57.
Thank you 1982 Caprice... for posting the photos for me. I wish it still loooked that good. Those were taken in the late '80's just after it had been taken down to bare metal and repainted. Since then the clear coat has peeled some and the rust termites have chewed on it in several places (it had to sit outside). Now it's safe in a heated & air conditioned garage until I can get the money to have it done again. I can fix mechanical stuff but I'm no body man. Still it's mine and I have no intention of selling it... As for the 1957 rear quarters...the story I heard was, since it and the Ranchero were considered "commercial" vehicles, Ford decided to use up their supply of 1957 quarters on those vehicles in order to further amortize the tooling costs of those unique panels. Actually the bumper guards are different on the 1958's...my car has the larger 1957 ones on it. Now ask me where I got the louvers in the tailgate...
