I'm not sure about just how extensive the rust is on this Caddy, but the owner is the one that disclosed that this is Illinois rust, so I have to think it is less than wonderful underneath. There is rust over the rear wheels, and at the bottom of the quarters.

I am out of town until Monday afternoon, and if it is still available, and something tells me it will be, I will try to go by and take some pics of it, and assess the rust better.

From what I saw yesterday, it would not be total folly for someone fairly local to buy this, and do some repair, and enjoy it for what it is...But, if transporting costs are added to it, and since that is just the beginning of the expenses, I'm not sure it is a great choice for most of you guys.

But those seats sure are pretty!

    David :)

People never cease to amaze me. What kind of idiot would drive a beautiful car like this one around in the Illinois winter? You'd have to be brain dead to do that! If it's Illinois salt rust and it's showing around the rear fenders and bottoms of the quarters my bet is that the underside is scary and the cancer has begun. Hope I'm wrong, but, in talking to Wixy, I'm probably not. I told Wixy that I was hoping that the car hadn't been in Illinois too long. But, like most buyers...I'm hoping and dreaming when the signs of cancer should tell me to forget it.:(

I hope one of you guys can get some better photos of this wagon. It looks almost identical to this one forsale in Illinois last year, except the roof color is different.

Don't go by these pics for condition. I did alot of photoshopping to get rid of the rust for my photogallery.

This one has different wheelcovers and a trailer hitch though. Though those could have been changed by the current seller.

Interior is the same. I'd wager it is the same car.

Looks to be the same car sans the vinyl top. Wonder why they added the vinyl top? In looking at these pix I'm not quite so enamored with the car...if it's the same car, and I think it is. Too coincidental that the one now for sale is the same color in & out and has "Illinois" rust.

The seller did say he bought it on eBay. It is more than likely the same car. David :)

The top was there before, but dark green. Now it looks tan to match the interior. He swapped out the color keyed wheelcovers too. Removed the trailer hitch. If I recall, the original Ebay ad said the car was not originally green. It was a pale yellow. So did this guy dye the roof tan or replace the entire top with a tan one? If he fixed the rust along the edge of the dark green top he would probably have to have replaced the top. Which if it was painted dark green was probably cracking and peeling anyways. But then why not repair all the rust if you are repainting the body along that roof?

Someone needs to see this car. LOL

Went by and looked at the Caddy again, still couldn't get my camera to work, but looked under it, and wow! Illinois rust abounds!

SF, what are your thoughts on this one? I can tell you're definitely in a buying mode. Can't wait to see what you get.

:biglaugh:Actually, snoot....I'm NOT in a buying mode at all. My thoughts on this car have changed dramatically since I saw the new pix from the old eBay ad that MoGuy posted. And from having talked to Wix about it, too. When I saw the design of the car from the side I didn't like it and I now KNOW that it's a rust bucket waiting to happen. I was off the car after discussing it briefly with Wixy and then, when I saw the design from the side I was wondering what I was thinking in the first place.:disagree::biglaugh:

Also sounds like it's rusting from the inside - out....
You start seeing the rust on the outside and the wagon's toast.
