I'm an OXY/Acetylene guy. Never worked with a TIG/MIG machine.

Your second comment reminded me of a joke, though:

This mechanic is so good, that he's almost as popular as cosmetic surgeon, busier than all-get-out. He's always in a rush to make time with the family (5 kids and the wife), so he makes every effort to get home, between jobs.

This one time, as the story goes, he forgot the house keys at the shop. The wife's wagon is home, so he rings the bell. No answer. Rings again. No answer, again. One more time or he'll break the door down! The wife finally comes to the door.

Where the heck have you been? She says, "I just got in from grocery shopping, and the kids were all hyper from the ice-cream cones, I was puting the eggs in the door. I'm so g'dam busy, I haven't got time to wipe my arse!"

Then she goes on and asks him, "Which reminds my have you got melonoma? I noticed some on your balls."

"Well," he says, "if you did wipe your arse, I wouldn't have any brown spots, would I?"

    steering column parts?

I have a spare steering column for my car. Let me know, and if you wanted to cover shipping we could work out something. I am not exactly sure what's going on with the broken piece in the pic, do you need the column? or just the shift lever? I took my column shift off my wagon and put a floor shifter in with a mid 80's AOD 4spd auto transmission, so I might have the pieces you need left over.

...and they all look like that:p

Yes they are common thru all the F,F's and C's...and they all lok like that:yup:

my suggestion...put in a floor shifter!!!!....its made of a wierd Alum/pot metal....Jb Weld will work...but...a floor shifter will cure it faster:tiphat:

    this ones very cool...looks like a 4spd ...but it aint:banana: http://bmracing.com/index.php?id=products&sid=4&cat=2&subcat=1&pid=14

I definitely need the piece thats damaged in the picture, just the metal piece that goes over the column. (if its not like mine) I can just as easily 'mend' mine too.

I'll put in a 4 speed when i get a 304 with the triple single or duce set up, what ever intake that fits under the hood and/or is available for that block.:disagree:

I mean to say a 302, instead of a 289. Look here:p for a now avaliable triple 2 barrel set up. This thing can rock.

Thanks for all of the links. I'll post a picture of my new third seat that I just stitched up and my 'temp' panels for the interior.

    Mercury Manuals!

I don't think I posted this one before, but holy hubcaps!, it's got more info than Ford ever had! If I did, rack it up to CRS - Can't Remember Anything. :rofl2: or enthusiam. (No great loss, without some small gain. An old Atlantic navy friend used to say. :) )

Yeah you did but i think when we post all available info on our vehicles, its there for future reference. They don't have that code '74' trim color for my vehicle though. Everything else though:mad:

I was going to post the new seat cover i made for the third seat in my wagon but my hard drive is full.(again)
Going to strip the fender skirts, rubber coat the backs and sand. Found a cool paint to 'very closely' match one of the seat colors but different from the body color. I have my show this sunday so there will be two of us lined up, Definitely have video for you guys on youtube and also all of the wagons there.
Thanks again for all of your help StormNorm and the Rev and everyone else.

ps so thats making the seat cushion, finishing the skirts, fixing my hood spring, tie rod ends, cleaning/compounding completely, scraping off 45 years of old vinyl off, making my new ones (bare not covered) and ????:pub:< this will help too

Code 74 is the Wagon body style, as far as I know. That usually means the same color schemes as the 4-door sedans (71?).

You know that Windows stores a lot of crap in the Windows\Temp directory huh? but a lot of programs create *.log and *.tmp files that they don't clean up. You could have all kinds of those left on the drive, usually in Windows or the Temp directory, but also on the C:\ root directory. After I installed Windows Live, I found out that the webcam keeps all the video and dialog stored on the drive, and the sound in the root directory.

Run a Search for *.tmp, then *.log and nuke them. The ones that Windows is using actively will raise a warning that the file can't be deleted, but you'll see a lot of MSxxx*.log files that you can.

I use the My Computer window to clean up the drive (right-click on hard-drive C, D, E) and tell it to do a cleanup, AND go back to the last Restore point. I knocked of 33MB's of bloat, in one swoop. I'm running XP-Pro. Vista's probably got other ways.

Good luck with the Show. :)
