I would guess most had the 383. Once you have that wagon, then I'll know who I'll have to kill to get it for myself.
I know that theres at least one of these 60 Polara wagons that had the D-500 option with the long ram intake set up.

WOW! Here's EVERYTHING you would want to know about these cars from allpar! I'm surprised that there aren't more of them around since Mopar went the extra mile and then some for rust prevention. Maybe it didn't work?

    I want one!

    Worth Murdering For

That is another one of those beautiful rare vehicles that I wouldn't want....... (Really I do):biglaugh: But I would never drive it except special shows and events. Like if my Handyman wagon was a nice Nomad. Some things are just too rare and too expensive to be driven. :29: So don't worry, if any of you get one, I won't kill you............ Just don't turn your back or leave the keys in it!:rofl2:

I want the Polara cause its the hardtop model. The Matador and Dart wagons in 1960 had the same body and most of the Matador's trim was the same as the Polara, but only the Polara had the hardtop roofline. The Matador and Dart wagons show up for sale from time to time, so if you don't mind the door post you could go find one of those. I wouldn;t have to kill you to get a 60 Dart or Matador wagon, so it would be a safer choice anyway for you.
The only other 60 Polara wagon I know of is one that spent its life in L.A. and was restored many years ago. It had the D-500 option and was a real light beige (almost pink) color. I remember reading a magazine article about it once.
All 60 Polaras are very rare. The convertible is almost as rare today (I've only seen two 60 Polara convertibles in person).
    Heres a video of showing a 360 degree view of a 60 Polara D-500 convertible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LO-_2K1olE
The reason the 1960 (and 61) Polaras are rare is that 1960 was the first year for the Dart. In 60 and 61, the Dart was a full size car that shared its similar styling with the longer Polaras and Matadors. But it road on the 60 Plymouth's shorter wheelbase. The Dart lineup nearly matched the entire Plymouth lineup from bottom to top. The Dart styling in 1960 was considered better looking than the Plymouth and more restrained and thus better looking than the Polara and Matador. As a result, Darts basically stole just about all the potential sales away from the larger Dodges and took much of the 1960 Plymouth's sales as well.

Wasn't the 383 originally a 361 back in 1960? That would be my guess as the most popular engine in the Polara back then.....

They used the 361 for the D-500. They also had the 383 which had more horsepower and more torque than the 361 D-500. The one that sold a few years back that I posted here is a 383.

Personally I think that long ram intake setup is one of the coolest looking intakes I've ever seen

Beautiful wagons posted! I remember (scary isn't it?!) back in the day one of these advertized with a black and white pic in Auto Trader magazine. It was listed as a "313cu" and I thopught it must be a typo. But it apears Mopar like the other big names did strange things on my side of the fence.

    Quote from Allpar...

    http://www.allpar.com/mopar/a-engines.html

    Canadian notes (Bill Watson)

[IMG]The 303 was introduced in Canada before the U.S. Plymouth Fury came on the market. It was used in the Canadian-built 1956 Dodge Custom Royal (2-bbl) and 1956 Chrysler Windsor (4-bbl). In 1957 is was used as the standard V8 in the 118" wheelbase Plymouth and Dodge models.

The 313 V8 appeared in 1957 in the Canadian Custom Royal. For 1958, the 313 became the standard V8 for the 118" wheelbase Plymouth and Dodge models. It was available in Plymouth and Dodge models through 1964, and was replaced by the 318 for 1965. The poly 318 was last used in Canadian production on the 1967 models.

The Canadian 1958 Dodge Custom Royal used the poly version of the 354, shared with the Canadian-built DeSoto Firedome and Chrysler Windsor. Chrysler of Canada did not start using the B block V8 until 1959.
