Well, I just found this site and since I am the proud owner of a station wagon thought I would join. Plus I know 1 or 2 of you already..(Whats up Waygun). I own a 1974 Plymouth Satellite Station Wagon..currently a 318/auto car.....will eventually be a 400/4-speed car. Its real rough around the edges right now but with ALOT of $$ and time and love it will be real nice.....got 4 kids that expect it...lol.
Hi New member jump right in and add pictures and any info you have to let others know a little about you. I'm still lookin around myself. Lots of nice pictures of wagons and stories to pass the time.
Thanks for the welcome! My wagon needs alot of work still and I will have a lot of questions I am sure, so I am looking forward to the conversations!
Sweet, Yours spinnaker white as well? I am also looking for a tailgate...mine has seen much better days. But from what I am hearing, they are pretty scarce :banghead3:
At least for you, any 71-78 Satellite or Coronet wagon tailgate would work (or at least could be made to work), including the later years when they relabled the B-Bodies Furys and Monacos (very confusing since the larger Dodge and Plymouth models also carried the Fury and Monaco names as Gran Fury and Monaco Brougham). My selection of tailgates is limited to 66-67 Belvedere tailgates, or with modification, 66-67 Coronet tailgates. My Belvedere came from the factory in white, but the white paint on it now is a crappy old repaint that needs to be stripped off so the car can be repainted.
Already learned something new! I thought I was limited to 72-74 satellites only. So that bit of information will help broaden my search. One body shop wanted $1000 just to repair and paint the tailgate I have.
There may be some subtle differences from year to year. Its always possible that some change may have been made at some point during that body style's 8 year lifetime. Around '74 was when the bigger 5mph bumpers showed up. I never thought about it before, but since that bigger rear bumper is right at the tailgate, I wonder if any changes had to be made to the tailgate to allow for the bigger 74-78 style rear bumper.
to the wagon train, 74. Doesn't look real rough....gotta love those Texas cars. The sedan & wagon match is too cool.
Looks can be deceiving....it needs floors, storage compartment floor, tailgate, firewall, and rear window channels....all of which have rust through holes. Frame appears solid but havent gotten under it enough to really inspect. I have a 1974 Roadrunner that I am going to cut up to get the replacement floors and firewall. I may even cut a chunk out of the trunk ro replace the bottom of the storage compartment.
