    1954 Conestoga

This car was purchased new in 1954 by my Great Grandfather.
It was $1995 and total amount payed after adding antifreeze and tax and what not was $2490.

My Great Grandfather owned the car until the late 70's.
It was sold and then sold again in the 80's I was able to locate the car and buy it back in 1997.

I took it Superior Custom Auto in Richmond Indiana.
Steve and Kris Lamb worked on the car for almost 2 years.
They transformed from an ugly Cadet Gray car to a shinning beauty that is Corvette Silver with Ford Colonial White Trim containing Red Pearl.

The car scored a 2nd place at the 2000 Studebaker Drivers Club International Meet. It has also appeared on My Classic Car with Host Dennis Gage.

When I finally found the car it still contain all the registration slips from when my Great grandfather owned it.

It is equipped with a 3 speed manual transmission with over drive.
It has the patented heating system called a Climatizer.
Being the manual transmission it has the Studebaker Hill Holder which keeps the car from rolling backwards while stopped on an incline for a street light. It has 48,000 miles on it and is a joy to drive.

Thanks for the web site and thanks for your interest in wagons.

    Yes it was Studebaker.
They were on the Studebaker Wagonaires.
Sharp cars based on the Lark Model.
You can often find one at car shows.

Hill holders are great, my 91 Suabru Wagon had one.

Hmmm, then again, maybe not... (just looked at a Golden Hawk on the net) the Golden Hawk had a bigger grill. Still... nice wagon!

Hit by teen Driver making a pass in the grass .

I was slowed to turn and the kid tried to pass me in the grass. He lost control and hit me.

The car has been repaired. Found a donor car in St Louis had to take the entire side off and put the new one on.

Still need a bumper mine is bent.
So if anyone knows of a bumper contact me.
If anyone know of a place to have one straightened that would work also.

The car resembles a 54 speedster.

When you have them side by side the Speedster's front end is much more dramatically aero and sloped.

That's the only problem of driving an old classic..... that some idiot driver is going to damage it. Those parts must be hard to come by. i know every year in Carlisle Pa., they have an auto parts fleamarket. You might find parts over the internet also.

From what I have heard, if you cant find it at Carlisle, then it does not exist! The show is held yearly in the spring.
