I purchased a 1970 Plymouth Sport Satellite Suburban in May 2010 and while it's pretty straight, it'll be a long-term project. Having a ton of fun with it so far and it runs like a top (thought I wish the original owner hadn't switched out to a 318 from a 383 for 'gas economy' reasons). Still, she got over 325k on the engine. Only one previous owner and lots of good care, but it was just really used as a work horse and it shows. Needs tons of little things including weather stripping and a new headliner, as well as a couple of big things (chroming and paint). But mechanically, I have it nearly 100% there until I can afford a new engine (which is possibly never . I'll post pics as soon as I can. I am detailing it and that will probably take a month of body panel removal and lots of vacuuming and mineral spirits, but already it looks pretty great to me. Lots of unbelievable wagons on this site, and am really happy to be here. It's really cool to see other people still get into these old 17 and plus footers until they're looking new or better than new again. I've had nothing but fun with mine and I'm pretty sure I'll never be bored again as long as I own it. Thanks! Kristi Edmonds, WA
to the wagon train, Kristi. Glad you found our wagon family. Don't be afraid to post up pix right away....we like before, during and after pix. The more we see the more we may be able to help with parts etc.
The 70 Sport Satellite wagon is one of my favorite Plymouth wagons. I too want to see some photos. Below is a link to a picture of one I saw at the Spring Fling Mopar show in California a few years ago. (its in post #6 of the following thread) http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7073
Kristi. Now be more specific on your needz. We'z all full of it here AAAHHHH, I meen the advice:banana: 'Cuz the price of givin' iz so rite BTW, Don't over look JCWhitney when it comez to sealz. Yeah jes need to look close and they will send 1" or 2" samplez for matching if yah askGive me some time to dig into my stash of sorcez on the headliner. At least your '70 iz new enough that you're not plagued with the cardboard panelz and Mylar Stripz One guy on the planet for those and the whole rest of the planet hatez him 'cuz he'z such ah twit
Might be a long shot, but check Steele Rubber Parts for weatherstripping. I've purchased front and rear windshield gaskets from them for some of my Mopars, but don't know if they have wagon parts.
Oy. The perfect '70 Sport Sat wagon in Cali.. I know that one Ugh. I know that Sport Satellite that you're talking about. Those lucky dogs! They got theirs with about 80k miles on it or something... that was three lifetimes ago for mine. Man, isn't that thing gorgeous? I can't find another like it... Spotted a photo of a sun-bleached example in Canada, and a wrecked parts car (trying to get a tailgate piece from it, but no response). Don't know how many are left, but in all seriousness, it is nice to see a pristine example, even if I'm a bit green about it ;-) Man, to all you guys, this response is really excellent and I appreciate your advice very much (the price to give is right, for sure, but at least this recipient finds it valuable). I normally had go cart-type oldies - I'm a bit of a Fiesta, Ghia nut - but always like the big old Mopars. I felt lucky to get this one because the two doors are priced to the skies now. Anyway, always wanted a wagon like what we rode in as kids, so I'll try to hang on to this gal for a long time. As soon as it stops raining, I'll roll it out of the carport and snap some fresh pics for you guys, but will post the pics I took the day I went out to look at it, before it was officially mine. I think I had to scrabble money from 8 sources to get this thing and I just payed them off a few months ago :2_thumbs_up_-_anima. Now, I just need another $12,000 or so to get it looking awesome Thanks - I'm def glad I found this forum. Kristi
Posted Pics of my wagon in the gallery At least I hope I did. I'll get fresh ones up when the effing rain stops. The weather stripping is so bad, that we all got wet when I ran it through a car wash. I wanted to test for leakage around the doors, windows, sills... Anyway, the test worked REALLY REALLY well. And my kids thought it was the funniest thing ever. I kinda didn't. Kristi Edmonds, WA
The way you were talking about your wagon, kristi, I thought it was going to be a junker or something. That's a nice 'ol wagon!
Sweet ride Kristi BTW, JCWhitney for sure for the window channel runnerz JOAN FABRICZ FOR THE 1 1/2" VALCRO FOR THE BACK SIDE OF THE QUARTER WINDOW CHANNEL.
