Also that PDF is for a 1961-1962 Mercury. Ford changed underwear and numbering codes between years. Yours is a 1963, so it may be right.
That ClassicAutoParts site has a catalog for the Fullsize Fords (up to 1972). It's a monster PDF of 81 megabytes. Loaded with the Mercury head emblems, mostly plastic, but really nice. It's even got the seat backrest insert emblems for yours. All the small decorative parts, door sill logos. I never knew that Ford made a tripack carb manifold. Anyway, they show the original part numbers for everything they sell. Might be helpful for other sites. http://www.classicautoparts.com/
it will fit...it just aint for your car...thats why they say it wont fit!! just dont lose your original one...it'l be worth half what you payed for the car in a few years
Two lessons in one day. A) It won't fit, and, B) What a link fest! I learned a lot about Ford vendors and what's out there.
Well, the auction ended at $51 for the gas cap. It started at $5. I don't think i want to spend that much just yet till i get everything else done, which will take about 10 years. If it did go for less, i was going to mate it to the inside opening that fit and still use it. I think that the area around the cap, which is limited, is where it has to fit, in addition to the actual hole. I think that we need a better vender/parts list that we can pool from. I found about 10 just looking for my cap. Another 20 for my skirt seals. I have them all bookmarked and can give the small description for another permanent thread. Another would be the parts interchange but i think that would be on the line of copyright problems. Anyone buy the book and copy it to disk? That is also what the above mentioned. Still trying to find the color combo for my interior. I'll post in cosmetics, the correct thread, and let everyone know what happens with the mystery '74' trim code i can't find. rick the terrible
Rick the Terrible. I like that. Mine's got a deluxe interior for the model. In Mexico, they ran Granadas and other mid-size models on the same line. Mine was built in September 1978, I'm sure they had parts left over from 1978's, and mine got a few. I'm the second owner. I have a feeling it's an upperscale interior option pack (74).
That would explain why i havent seen one like mine, the interior that is. I just want to know what the interior color i called. I just took a few videos of the wagon so look for them in the video section and on you tube. Here is more to throw you for a loop. I actually have a three tone colored bench seat. Goes from beige, to dark brown to a slightly lighter cinnamon/metallic color and stripes of that to the center. Give it a few hours to upload. A gave a special shout out to you guys too. rick the photogenic
I think its called Champagne. It's a Nylon/Polyester mix. The finish is called Paux-De-Soie (Silk Skin). My mother owned a ladies garment shop, as well as selling yardgoods, she made gowns. I used her industrial machines several times to reupholster my teenage cars. Whatever you do, make sure you get Exterior grade fabric. They are UV treated. If that's not possible, use Dow Chemicals or 3M's ScotchGuard or Bissel Carpet Protector. The Dow stuff is used for tents and sleeping bags. IIRC, Ford/Mercury got their fabric from Dupont's Textile division. You could always search their site too. Dupont held the patent on Nylon for years. The only other one I can think of is CIL Industries, who had a license from Dupont to make Nylon automotive fabrics. That big Catalogue from Classic Auto Parts (81 MB) had those seats and seat covers in that fabric, so its still around.
