I was looking at this 62 comet cap and the interchange manual tells me everything that 'doesn't fit my wagon.' Anyone know what fits? This is the coolest cap ive seen but dosen't help me if it wont fit. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...DME:B:DBS:US:1123&viewitem=&item=330224229715
Maybe C3DZ-9030-A. Yours is a 1963. The first '3' is the year. '9030' is the Part-Group. "A" is an 'all-in-one' code. It could be Left or Right, Chrome or Painted, etc. Have a look here for the Ford numbers: http://www.lovefords.org/tech/ This might help too: http://www.nosfordparts.net/
Best Ford/Mercury Part Numbering Explanation This makes Ford's Part system clearer than mud. http://www.hammar.dyndns.org/~djhamma/partnumb.htm
And this from FOMOCO https://www.fordrestorationparts.com/restoration/indexSEMA.jsp http://www.fomoco.com/ This site refinishes Car emblems: http://www.emblemagic.com/misc_emblems.htm http://www.emblemagic.com/unrestored.htm http://www.nwfalcon.com/ Sorry to overload your time, but they don't call me the Link Fester for nothing!
but it still need...... of course with all of this help, I'll name my first born after you. Stormin' Norman Reyes ? Did you see my videos on you tube yet? rick
Yeah I saw them. Nice cars. I was checking for other numbers. The Stationwagon Gas cap is different 'B9A-9030-C' I found a PDF Catalog here (Falcons): http://www.bwautoparts.com/html/catalogue_download.htm The other weird thing was that Ford diddled with their Numbering System for Mercurys. C2DZ-9030 is a good number, but so is "C2GY" except that there aren't any Gas caps, but lots of Fuel Tank stuff: Just don't call your firstborn 'Late For Breakfast'... Here's a few others, but I think that Northwest Falcon site is AWESOME! http://www.thunderbirdconn.com/ http://www.fordmustangparts.com/index2.html http://davesfalconparts.com/index.php http://www.falconparts.com/ There's no picture, but ask if its for the Wagon models: http://www.trophymustang.com/falcon-chrome-p-1279.html I just ran a google on the 'B9A-' and EBAY comes up a lot. Good luck, eh?
How's your Swiss? Here's a Swiss vendor searching on "C2GY". If any european guys have Falcons or Comets, have at it! http://www.dpimport.ch/12falcon comet.htm
No Caps but WOW!!! I guess I shouldn't be shocked, but Fords do have a serious Parts business going on! There are a couple fuel caps - plain jane types. But I got one idea from the Dennis Carpenter TBird Catalog. Use a Wheel Disc emblem on the old cap. They used to make 3D diecast units that were either rivetted or bolted into the wheel disc. Just about the same diameter too! These guys are AWESOME. If they don't have every fuel system component, I don't know who does, honest. http://www.classicautoparts.com/ Otherwise, the Rev is the man. I'm gonna 'get a life' now for the rest of the day. But that should give you a good kickstart.
What one buddy did for his Falcon cap Rick is a wizard when it comes to his cars. Main page: http://www.rickwrench.com/ Locking Fliptop Jaguar gas cap page: http://www.rickwrench.com/index79master.htm?http://www.rickwrench.com/jagcapdone.html He roller-painted his Corvair, and did his own woodgrain on his Falcon Squire. I read the entire Roller Paint thread on the Moparts.org site, and still had some doubts, until I saw Rick's results. When I got to the Woodgrain, refinishing my mouldings put a lump in my throat, and again when I saw how Rick did it, I just went for it. Nice workmanship. Lots to see. Have fun.
I'll check them all. Too bad because that merc. head gas cap is really cool. About my vin. i checked my manual with my vin and the color/trim code doesn't jive. I have 74 as the code and it isn't listed on the original manual. Everything does but that. i have the beige vinyl with dark brown inserts in my bench. rick
I have the same problem. Mine was built in Mexico, and the plate is in Spanish (I lived there for 5 years). Lots of different models were built in Mexico and sold in the US, back then. If yours is a California car, it could well have been built there. Mine has a Granada hooped headliner, whereas all the US/CDN cars have the cardboard version. The rearend on mine is a 3.07, and the US cars are 3.08. And lots of other details, including NO RUST, hehehe! As long as you've got the paperwork, I wouldn't worry about it. Check the Passenger Dogleg (rear door) and see if there's another plate there. Mine has the 'Hecho en Mexico' plate with all the numbers and seals. My Driver door has the Official Ford Of Mexico, serial plate. Mine's also a '74', that's why all the background. It may be an export ID thing.
