Hello to all. My name is Byron and I am a retired American living in Thailand. I am a car guy who drives a 65 Olds Cutlass but it is not a station wagon. I have come to your forum as I think this is where the station wagon experts hang out and I have a question to ask you. Can you please identify the make and model of the station wagon pictured below. I have a Thai friend who saw this wagon in Bangkok and asked me what it was. I am not sure as the front end, especially the hood is custom but the rear looks stock. I am guessing a 1971 Impala wagon but am not sure. Can anyone out there help me identify this ride? Thanks, B
Welcome aboard. The basic body looks right for 71-76 Impala wagon, But since it has the 5mph bumpers indicating its not a 71 or 72. I'm guessing its a 74 since the 74 Impala was the only year that had turn signal lights that wrapped around the leading edge of the front fenders. I'm guessing there aren't many vintage American cars left in Thailand. That 65 Olds has got to be a rare sight on the streets there. I would love to see photos of your 65.
Jim, Thanks for the welcome and reply. Yes my Cutlass does get some stares over here. As far as I know I have the only 65 2 door Cutlass in Thailand. There is a guy with a 65 4 door and a guy with a 2 door 65 88. I belong to a Thai American Car Club over here and there are about 150 American cars in the club. Only one other American in the club and the rest are Thai guys who love American iron. Here's a pix of my 65 and if anyone is interested here is my website address which has some albums of car shows over here and some drag racing pixs. Also has some pixs of all my old cars I sold off in the States before moving over here. B http://picasaweb.google.com/rdrokit
One observation. It took me a while to figure it out but I got it. The rear tail lights are not stock. They are from a 1980 Honda Prelude. Chrome grill top from a 1981 Cadillac El Dorado and the headlights from 1986 Cadillac El Dorado. Just thought you may want to know.
