So I have had this 70' Chrysler T&C for about 6 years now.

I live in Illinois and keep it in Denver for when I visit my roots, family, friends and cabin..

I was so excited when I found the obscure add on an internet classified with this wagon for sale in Seatle (the car was from AZ ). I wanted to replace my worn out 77' Chevy Caprice clasic wagon.

I had no knowledge of Chrylers or Mopar back then, but when it pulled up at the airport to pick me up I could only gasp WOW!

So..I bought it..Drove it to Denver..Rebuilt and jetted the carb for altitude as well as everything else to make it start, run and drive dependibley.

The one thing it needed then was paint!

6 years later I see and drive the car every few months, if not 5-6 months and still no paint.

I don't live where it lives , just visit breifly.

So.. My Question..What do I really have as far as engine and power plant?

If this is truley the Chrysler 440 TNT, Whats it worth?

Air Filter says 440 TNT..I know there is Mopar HP, HP1 and HP2.

Do I really have a Mopar High Output 440 TNT under the hood..and how do I tell?..Crap! thats like 395 stock HP original!

From day one I have been in awwue of it's raw power..tought to even start form a stop without rocketing forward..

If I keep the pedle down through out all 3 grears it "patches" with every shift.

Closing on Ebay today is a 71' T&C pushing $5000

    Insight?

Thats a nice wagon, I'd love it....but I'd NEVER paint it if it's origonal, but that just me:yup: I hope the true Mopar guys chime up because I have never heard of a "TNT" 440, could it be the last owner just put that on?

I just looked at your pics again.....People kill for that kind of Patina!

Thanks Fat I appreciate the input...

As far as Paint? Car has to be protected from the elements. It is time over due!

FYI..Chrysler Dodge and Plymouth had factory options for a High Performance 440 Big Block and they were identical.

    Chrysler called it ..TNT

Dodge called it......MAGNUM..Which they named their recently produced Wagon

    Plymouth called it...SUPER COMMANDO

They all came stock at 375hp

The other version was a High Performanc 3- double barrel carb set up called the "Six Pack" putting out from the factory 395hp.

If my Mopar 440 was a factory TNT!!! It would be worth more than the car. Every Cuda, Charger, Road Runner ect..enthusist would kill for it!

Alas, researching the VIN #'s with the Chrysler codes I resound to owning a "Plain Jane" 440 with a TNT air filter on top..

So..Looks like factory 350hp vs 375hp. I think it will get me to where I want to go still..In a hurry!

Wait....waglife's pix show the wood peeling off, Fat. Yours shows perfect wood. Did you replace that waglife?
I don't know if the car has the TNT or not. A mopar guy may have ways of recognizing that. I do see that the decal on the air cleaner looks awfully bright and clean. But, whether it is or isn't....you have a 1970 440....the best year for non smogged high HP engines. Don't know if it's a TNT but, if it's in good shape, it's gonna be a runner anyway.:yup:

Hey Silver the first pic is when I fist got it 6 years ago..

Peeling decals and in need of paint.

Actually last winter I stayed overnight in Denver. Retreived the car where it lives at the airport.

Had not been touched in months and it was -10deg..Started right up and drove to my folks..

Next morning..-15deg car started and was driving in Major rush hour back to the airport..Bumper to bumper in the busiest highway in Denver the top anode on the distributor cap dislodged and the car died in the center lane.

As well the brake booster blew..

I had it towed, made my flight and have since sent out the booster for rebuild where it waits for me now to be installed back in Denver

That's what I was looking for, cuda. Figured it had to be in the VIN. But I'm not up on Mopars.
Only 25 HP difference anyway. If it's important you can make that up easily in other ways. That engine should GO either way.

Well it came from AZ and the paint was Baked and bare. It was Originally a Sea Green but it was covered in a Gold can spray paint by the previous to cover bare metal.

Got pic's of your 69? Love to see them!

Inside is a darker green interior..Fair.

The Az sun baked allot of the inside, back, plastic type panels making it some what chaulky

Seats are a light green chamise type , slippery material.

Tilt, Power steering, power brakes, Ac, Elec Seat, Elec back window and manual windows..

Love the wing windows and floor cowl vents..Those should be in every car!

Wag & MPJ have the coolest wagons ever!

MPJohn's '69 is so fantastically optioned, and with the 300 hidden-headlamp grille, it looks amazing!

    It went from this...

to this! (btw, great job on the paint, John!)

Wag, we can always find you ways to spend your time and money, so find a '70 300 hidden-headlamp grille set-up and install it on your T&C.

    Your's could go from this...

    to this!

But Wag, your T&C rocks, even if you didn't ever do a thing to it. It is a beautiful brute! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

    David :)

Went to this site to look up a 1970 Chrysler brochure....

    http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/mopar/70ch/70ch.html
This is the direct link for the 1970 Chrysler brochure

    http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/mopar/70ch/bilder/28.jpg
This is page 28 of the brochure - basically a 'buyer's guide page that lists the basic standard and optional features for each model. New Yorker is listed first, then Town & Country, then the 300 series. It shows the 383 standard on the T&C, with the 'regular' 440 (350hp) optional. It lists your 'TNT' as optional in all BUT the T&C. Soooo.... maybe you've got some special order deal there. You'll have to check to see if it's the original engine to the vehicle.
