OK I have looked high and low for the PPG code to match with the Ditzler Code of 71315. It is the inside color of most mustangs that were painted Rangoon Red and it is also the color of the inside of "Kathy" (64 Comet wagon) I went to a local paint store and he was able to locate the code for the Outside color. Smoke grey/Anniversary Silver and can get some of that right away (dont need it right now) but when he put in the interior color 71315 he said, "nothin here" I know someone has had to get this color, so is my local guy a goober or what? I found a Dupont Code on another web site but it doesnt match when googled etc. I am just lookin for someone who has had Ford "Red" code 71315 mixed up and how and where did you get it, Thanks Oak`
Is DuPont 1429 the code you found? That's what I found anyway. Can't find much info on it though. http://www.ehow.com/list_6322678_1964-ford-mustang-colors.html I did find this on another site. Might be some nuggets of information for you in there. http://www.tffn.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16377&view=next
Thanks Yes Kevin the ehow site is the closest i found for a Dupont code, I guess I will call the Color Library place, Thanks Oak
This is the ASC McLaren Capri/Mustang site. Bottom of the page is a Ditzler to PPG colour conversion chart: http://www.ascmclarencoupe.com/Literature/Miscellaneous.htm
Ppg 71315 The PPG system crosses that number over to PPG 72246, available in DIA(interior lacquer) or SC(interior vinyl).
Just a thought.... Can't you get it colour matched? Take your glove box cover or any removable piece, polish it up, bring it in and have it matched? I work with pre painted sheet metal, and we have to this all the time (years) and get great dead on matches. we use auto paint supliers.
Thats what I did on Friday, i took the trim off of the glove box ad took the door to the painter to match, but er dont need paint for at least a couple of months, I will give him that PPG code and see what happens Oak
Looks good? well my PPG guy says that color code is for GM? But it is medium red SG (Semi Gloss) so I am going with it, THanks Oak
paint codes Trt this website out www.tcpglobal.com and go to "restoration shop". They have a lot of old paint codes there
Just an update I used the GM code and then we just toned down the color, it was very orange, we added black and brought it down, Ryan
