It was ok back then since no one was talking or a cell phone or texting they paid attention to the road and did not have as many accidents as we do today

Yeah, it was "safe..?!?" back then. It's just the way it was, cars were slower, people drove to where they were going rather than floor it, combined with much less cars on the road compared to today.......imagine how parrents will think of how we secure children in a car 50 years from now?

not to mention the lightening fast right arm reflex most parents had then. they could brake, swerve, and slap your chest thru the seat back all in one swift movement.

I have a reprint, wish I had an original. When I was a kid I'd always sleep in the back of my parent's wagon on the 6 hour trip to visit my grandparents. Wasn't a big deal back then and it SHOULDN'T be a big deal now except we have control freaks running our country, and any time something bad happens it MUST BE SOMEONE'S FAULT. I also road in the back of my dad's pickup a lot. I suppose that's illegal now too.

Amazon has it for $9.10, the ISBN number is 1440078831. The text and drawings reproduced really well, but the photos are black and white instead of color and lost a lot of detail. If you remember what photos looked like when reproduced on an old Ditto machine you'll have an idea of what they're like in the reprint. You can also download a pdf of the book here: http://www.archive.org/details/fordtreasuryofst00reckrich

    Cheers,
