Such the wrong car to put in that time and money.... A Focus? Why? Look at that interior. Who knows, maybe the planned on a custom interior.

And that much weight up front would have to make it a pig in the corners. So many better cars and combos that could have been done......

Not as much additional weight as you would think. IIRC, the 4.6 DOHC Cobra engine is an aluminum block / heads engine. Of course were talking more weight that the front wheel drive gear that come out, but remember the wagon now has a driveshaft and full thir member out back (..and with DRUM brakes...what's up with THAT?). If I had to guess, I'd say total weight would be up by maybe 350 pounds?

As far aft of the front axle it's sitting, it'd have an effect on handling. And if it can't handle around corners, I don't see the point.

I'd still love to know what they were doing to do about that interior. I honestly didn't realize the Focus was that bad. I guess I've never been in one.

You gotta realize that the Focus was state-of-the-front-wheel-drive-art - for 1999......when it first came out (in Europe, 2000 here)

Not the POS we got in the US. Our car had virtually nothing in common with the European version. And I believe it still holds the record for most recalls in the first year of production.

The '92 Integra I had was far beyond what the US Focus ever has been, until we start receiving the 'global' version. IT is a quality car.

Well....regarding the interior, etc....you have to remember that the Focus is NOT a high end car. What did they sell for new?.....12 to 15? That's what would make this car a real sleeper. As for the handling...any car can be beefed for tuned handling.

I'm familiar with the V8 Focus kit. There was a 5.0 V8 Focus 2 door hatchback running around, and it weighed right aroud 250 lbs more than a stock focus. The weight distribution went from 85 / 15 to 70 / 30. The handling was excellent and the power ratio made it a lot of fun on the street. That car sold for $25,000 with somewhere around 5000 mi on it. The Cobra 4.6 / 6 speed would run rings around a 5.0.
Word has it that this car may be parted out if it doesn't sell.

Would have made a nice replacement for my '03 Focus wagon, except that I have no skill whatsoever to finish it.......needs an auto electrics / electronics expert.

That and the exhaust looks like it might be a challenge coming right off the collector. I'm guessing that's why they didn't get that done.
