SORRY, I meant to put VISTA Cruiser in the title. Just realized it... My bad. Got a few pics of this all original what appears to be a 1970? Vista Cruiser wagon on Saturday night. This was one street over from the actual cruise. This was actually the same spot where I took the pic of my Grand Ville a couple of weeks ago near where that blue 71 Ford LTD is setting and that nice 85 Squire. The car was mostly rust free, but the paint is showing its age. The interior looked like new except for the driver seat. It had New Jersey license plates! Not sure if they drove it all the way down here or not, but it had new tires and looked to be a regular driver, so its possible. Nicely optioned with the 3rd seat, A/C, tilt, etc. Maybe it belongs to someone on here?
It's a '68. Don't fret...at least you didn't say PT Cruiser in the title. Not mine but I wouldn't mind owning it. A three seater with options is very desireable, they still ain't worth anything though, which is good unless you're trying to sell one. Looks better than my '71 when I got it, hard to see how bad the rust is though. You don't want a Vista Cruiser that needs a lot of rust repair unless you're some sort of glutton for punishment.
Yeah, I like that grill a little better than mine. Was there a way to tell the engine size of the Vista's?
My bad... I am not as familiar with the later 60s Oldsmobiles. Oh yeah, it was... the only rust I seen was what you see there... mostly surface rust and the interior was almost like new. Also the car appeared to be a daily driver.... you could tell someone had just drove it in there... brand new tires, etc. It had NJ plates, they may have driven it down here.
Most of them had the Rocket 350, but some had the 455. I don't think we could tell by the info we have here though...
I don't remember Oldsmobile putting engine emblems on their fenders, unlike Chevy and Ford, for example. TeeJ's right; by far the vast majority of them had the 350.
I could have popped open the hood and took a look... sure as I did though, the owner would have came around the corner.
In 1968, the base engine in the Vista was a 350. The big block 400 motor (same as in that year's 442) was optional. The 455 was not factory installed until the 1970 model year.
