FYI, "Chevy" has been a family name 24/7 FOR generations....Humingus Corp BS 24/7, IMO!

    Chevy,,,,Chevy, CHEVY!!!!!:yup:

But being seriuos...we should refer to Chevrolet as that name and NOT Chevy..... "Chevrolet, a Divition of Government Motors"

I heard on the radio that after the adverse publicity this memo generated that GM is backing away from the ban on "Chevy".
Interesting that whoever did the research for this article, wrote that GM bought Chevrolet in 1917. Actually Billy Durant who started GM and then lost it by overextending himself and the company through excessive aquisitions of other companies, started Chevrolet using the name and person of Louis Chevrolet to build on. Louis Chevrolet got his popularity building speed parts for Fords.
Once the Chevrolet company once well established, Billy Durant did a stock trade to regain GM and then folded Chevrolet into the company.
It wasn't long till Durant was wheeling and dealing to aquire other car companies and parts suppliers and again lost GM to his backers.
When he died Durant, the man who started GM was managing some bowling alleys.
After Louis Chevrolet died, his widow was interviewed and it was found that she drove a Mercury because, "they gave her a better deal"!

I agree, Chevrolet should still call themselves Chevrolet, even though I will say, "I'm a Chevy Man" or "I own 2 Chevy's", that's not the point.

Well, call them seves Chevrolet, but to tell your workers not to say "Chevy" even when at home......

Please, it's not like they are calling the brand a 4 letter word, it's a well respected nick name thats been around...for generations.

Maybe they don't want it confused with "cheve" - beer in Spanish?

A tad anal, in my book, but an owner will call it anything they want, especially if the Service departments screw up.

It's "Chebby" on the non chebby sites, never say that other word or the web-bots things will latch on and all the chebby guys get upset when they do a search and see what's said about them.:yup:

I heard management wants people to call them Frito-Lays instead of Fritos from now on.
See the USA in a Frito-Lay.:rofl2:

Absolutely absurd; that kind of thinking is probably why Chevy and GM are in the mess that they are. It's always been Chevy and now they don't like that anymore? Screw them. From now on, I'll never be heard saying Chevrolet; I'll say Chevy every single time just to prove to them that they have their head up their you know what!!
You don't hear Ford demanding we use Country Squire instead of Squire.

I haven't said the word Chevrolet in over 50 years and nothing GM says will change that. People will nick name products and call them what they want to call them and no ad agency will change that. These people are idiots. When was the last time you heard the word brassiere??:biglaugh:
