Yup...even I like NAVY blue OK, Fat. This is one of the nicer Merc wagons I've seen in awhile for that kind of money. I don't think it will last long. Unfortunately, Ian saw it on a weekend when not too many of our members are here. I'm afraid that car is going to escape our wagon fold. Probably go to someone that will never appreciate it for what it is. A shame too....someone in the wagon family here would be real happy with that wagon. Including me.

Alright-- not to be an ingrate here, but my last car woes were from jumping too quick!

--fuel economy on the colony park? Not even the modern (2000+) wagons are doing better than 25, 26mpg; and I understand that a 1996 buick roadmaster will still get about that! I'd love 30+, but I won't get that without going for a teeny jetta or focus. Any numbers for the colony park? The seller's daughter was suggesting 20mpg, but she wasn't sure.

--how large is the interior? On this colony park, or a roadmaster? I read somewhere that with all the seats folded down, they can hold 4x8' sheet goods? Not that I intend to abuse my future car with daily construction duty! But if these can hold a 4x8' sheet of plywood, that is a serious deal maker!

--the dark blue on dark blue isn't precisely what I was looking for, but I appreciate it more than a white woody (wood on a dark car would be more tolerable for me, personally). Just keeping this car in mind, does it share any parts with the ford limited?

I.e., I could change out some of the leather seats, and have a red interior ;-) Or just have spare parts in general.

--What else should I know about future maintenance on these cars?
I'm still comparing it to a younger roadmaster, which will probably be $2500-$3500 for low miles & well-maintained, or to a smaller but rather newer sable wagon with also the same miles (<100k).

--well! I still need to sell my volvo, which will take at least a week, but if he'll take a credit card through paypal or take some sort of downpayment/collateral maybe I can work this out! I'll give him a call tomorrow :)

I can't tell where you are going with your last post, Bernard, but, if you want that 90 Merc (and you should) you had better act quickly. That car is too nice to last long sitting on the street for sale.

    I'm pretty sure I do!
I'm just double checking that I want it, before I (might) end up with buyer's remorse :)

Is fuel economy about 25mpg highway?
Is it big enough for a sheet of plywood?
Are parts easier to come by than for a cappry (someone was mentioning earlier that they were a little bit of an issue)?

On the surface that appears to be an awesome deal.
    Excellent condition for the age.
    What's the mileage?

I was asking about it yesterday :)
Seems the daughter is negotiating the craigslist/ online part.
Ooops, seems "replaced" and not "rebuilt," I wonder what the mileage on the replacement tranny was??

"The transmission was replaced recently and the oil changed. My father, who is selling the car is a mechanic and can not see any problems with the car at this time. If you have any more questions please call. His name is Jim"

A question to ask......Replaced with what? Ian drove the car and had great praise for it...said it shifted like it should. I do know that this wagon is in super shape regarding the body and interior. Those leather seats are like new and will clean up and recondition perfectly. The underside is like new too. Providing everything is as it seems (and Ian did check it out) it is a beautifully kept luxury wagon for a unbelievably low price. I would love to own it. Had I not just bought a wagon and in the process of building a new engine, I WOULD own it.

Oh, hey, Ian-- where is the wagon located more precisely?
Trying to work out purchase logistics-- if there's a greyhound bus station nearby, I can get insurance/ temporary plates, take a bus up, and drive her back to Baltimore!

More convenient than getting a friend and driving one car up and two cars back.
