I know that years ago, when Wagons were a lot more popular, I used to see them with the spare tire sump crushed, along with the exhaust tip. I also know that some how, people used to get this damage fixed, by means of buying a whole new spare tire sump, and cutting out the old one, and welding in a new one, which was a factory stamped G.M. replacement part. Anyways, mine is rotted, and dented. This is literally, the only rot on the whole car...Not bad for a 25 year old wagon, that spent it's whole life in New England..Huh? Where, can I get this replacement spare tire sump? Is it still available through the Chevy dealer? My wagon is an Olds, but there's no difference in this case. Any help, would be appreciated, Thanks in advance....Nick
Is that where the tire goes? IIRC, the GM's stowed the tires in the rear quarters, so it's the bottom of the tire cavity? Try these guys: http://www.classicpartstore.com/ListItems/SubCategory/Patches/Rear.aspx
If you are not able to find a new one.I know where you can get plenty of used one but you will have to remove them yourself. How far are you from Charlotte? The Pull A Part there has plenty of GM wagons and the prices are reasonable they are on Tryon St. It cost a $1.00 to get in they have wheelbarrows for you to use just bring your own tools Also Keep your eyes on them they will walk away quick. They will also say they are not responsible. Prices are cheap. I went and got 4 truck Rally wheels, turn signal stalk, and a couple of other things only paid $78.00.
Is this what you are referring to? This is a photo of my 1989 Pontiac Grand Safari wagon... (which is the same car basically)... Or this area?
