    Does anyone know of a CAI for the tbi motors? I have a homemade one on my car, but want a real one. Any info would be appreciated.

    So where before your stock inlet had a hose that ran all the way to the core support and took air from in FRONT of the radiator, your "CAI" now sucks hot underhood air. How is that "cold air induction"?????

    The rule of thumb is that there's about a 1 HP increase for every 7-10 degree decrease in inlet air temp. You've increased from 70 deg F to 150 deg F. You do the math.

    That's what I'm saying, I want an after market CAI. The one I got right now is not a true cai. So, if anyone knows where I can find one, instead of pointing out the fact that I don't have one, it would be great. Thank you, again. :banghead3:

    Run the stock setup with a K&N filter. You will get as much, if not more, power then you will from a CAI.

    There is the optional of a Functional Cowl Induction setup, you will not get a much better CIA then that, other then RAM air, but with RAM Air, you get water and road debris involved.

    The two high pressure areas on the car are the base of the windshield (cowl induction) and the grille. Most factory hood scoops actually REDUCE inlet air pressure because the center of the hood is a low pressure area. As for rain and dust, the reality is that if the inlet is at a high pressure area, you WILL get water ingestion. There's a reason why the air vents in the cowl of most cars have a factory water drain.

    At the risk of starting yet another "ram air" vs. "cold air" debate, the reality is that pretty much any factory "ram air" system (which is a Pontiac trademark, by the way) provides very little actual "ram" effect by the time the air reaches the carb or throttle body. The internal restrictions in the inlet ducts result in pressure drops. The real benefit of these systems is the inlet air temperature reduction I discussed above.

    Try a google search for "caddy intake". It should spit out instructions for building one from PVC pipe and a Cadillac air box. You will find info at impalassforum.com and thirdgen.org
