My wagon broked!

Was driving into town this afternoon to get gas, run a few errands. Just as I got to the first signal light on the edge of town, going about 35, I felt a 'wobble' in the rear end - gave a kind of stange sensation, then all was normal. Felt some small 'wobbling' shortly thereafter. Got to the gas station and looked closely at both rear tires and wheels - saw no problems. Couldn't get a good look underneath - everything was wet on ground. Drove to stop #2 on surface streets, short distance away, felt the same 'minor' wobbling I felt before. Was starting to think it was all in my head, since I had been experiencing some dizziness in my head lately as well. Got on the freeway for stop #3 and I thought i was gonna lose a rear wheel or go out of control.....wild ride. I immediately got off at the next ramp and tool it to a local mechanic shop right there. He wasn't able to put it up on a rack right then, so I'm waiting to hear........One of guesses was a bad wheel bearing......

 

Didja check the lug nuts?

 

Yup. Checked - they were all there......
Seriously, no I didn't check them for loose ones.... a definite possibility, but probably not the cause. We rolled the wagon back and forth - wheels seemed to be tight. Just before pulling in to the mechanic garage, I heard a loud scraping of some kind - not a symptom of a loose wheel. Wheels also all seemed to be in correct alignment.

 

I have a friend that had a brake shoe spring break and the shoe was clunking around.

 

Thought of something inside the rear drums, but what would cause the shimmy? It actually felt like part of the suspension disconnected, allowing one wheel to toe in or out....

No word from the shop today. I got it in a bit late, and they were short-staffed.....

 

Or how about grabbing, off and on?

Don't know about the car wobble (I would've guessed a wheel issue), but the head 'wobble' might be a simple trip to the bone-crusher (Chiropractic) Or a Naturopath with his Palmer School of Chiropratic certificate. Palmer bone-crushers know their stuff. The naturopath with the chiropractic degree is more equipped for other possibilities.

'Rev guessed it. Got the verdict this AM - left rear wheel bearing took a powder. Wagon will be ready Monday.

 

I'm not keen on chiropracters. In my days as a claims adjuster (handled injury claims as well as auto damage), I got 'acquainted' with too many chiropractic quacks who were in it just for the insurance scam money. Like a minor rear-ender with maybe $150 in damage generating an injury claim with $6,000 in 'medical' treatment.......

I know there are plenty of honest chiropracters out there who will have nothing to do with those things, but I'm afraid it would take a lot for me to trust one. I also have a bit of trouble with the 'science' of chiropractic', such as spine mis-alighment leading to diseases, etc.......

 

That's too bad. Up here, in my Province, the visit costs me $6, and the Province pays $20 per visit. Yeah, we pay higher taxes too, but not that much more than you guys.

 

Good thing you were where you were so you could get it in without further damage.

Had a wheel bearing go last year and did the housing in. You got off lucky young man.

Chiropractor? Scare the heck out of me. I read an article some time ago about how many people suffer strokes not too long after going to one. The number was very high.
