Hello wagon people. I do not have a station wagon, but I'm seriously considering making a purchase here soon and I thought this site would be worth checking out. I think wagons have a certain coolness to them that not many people "get". But I do. Hopefully I will find a big old bruiser I can just cruise around in and slowly modify. I'd love to do a early to mid 70s GM (can't believe I just said that). I think an aluminum headed 455 Buick or Olds would be perfect. Well, let the hunt begin. Off to the classifieds I go.

    Tom

My son said to me, "Dad, is there drag racing in heaven?" What a proud moment.

Thanks. Even my eight year old thinks wagons are cool.

:Welcome: to the wagon train, Tom.
I think a mid-70's GM would be an excellent choice, but then again, I might be slightly biased. :slap: :D

There is a 1969 AMC Ambassador for sale locally. Looks solid, floors are week, interior looks incredible, 343-2V, original paperwork since new. I think I'm going to have to check it out. Seems like it could be a good deal even though it may need floor work. I may end up with this instead of a GM. I guess whatever comes along at the right price.

That is actually going to be a very helpful site to me thanks!

What's the most popular make of wagon on this board? Does there even seem to be a 'favorite' make, or style that most members would agree to as a whole?

:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2: Long Roofs Rule! That's about it, actually.

We're pretty happy that any wagon gets saved from the scrap barges to Asia. It sort of goes in cycles. A run of Clamshells, then Roadies, then Country Sedans or Colony Park wagons, and of course the rare Fox-bodied Fairmonts, Baby LTDs, Mercurys.

And once in a blue moon we get a real woodie gem like a 1946 Buick or Ford.

    :Welcome: Tom!

I'm a fan of the '70's GM wagons as well. No matter what wagon you gravitate towards, you're in good company here!
Best of luck in your search. I'm originally from your neck of the woods...the CNY area might be good feeding grounds for hunting. Keep us posted!
