I found this Country Squire for sale here on the net and wondering about the price and thinking how I would love to have a 73 Country Squire, especially with the Brougham interior option. It has the 429 engine. Emailed the seller... he replied stating he would get more photos later, then I get a later email and he said he thought the rings were bad and the car will be crushed next week!! NOOOOOOOOO! I emailed him back and recommended he try to sell as-is or at least part it out... would be a shame to see it crushed.

He just replied and said he would take $850 for it. He said he thought the crusher would bring $700, but he would leave the tires/wheels on it for $850.

I would LOVE to have it, but I think another engine problem car is the last thing I need right now. If anyone can SAVE this car, please let me know... I will relay the contact info. The car is located in the Atlanta Georgia area.

WOW, over bad rings (?). :banghead3:

It would be a real waste, looks like a car thats all there and not butchered. The blue interior is really nice too.....

Looks like it has the "rim blow" steering wheel as well.

From that picture, yea, I agree with you. I just can't wrap my head around it, that someone would crush it over something that is fixable (from what we know).

It amazes me that a highly and rarely optioned, intact '73 Country Squire with a 429, one of Ford's best engines IMO, is most likely going to be crushed next week, and yet right now, a low optioned '78, albeit like new, is going gangbusters on eBay.

One of life's little ironies.

Unless it has door handles made of gold I doubt any crusher would give $700 for it.....$250 -$300 may be closer to it's scrap value. Even with the 429 scrap yards only give scrap price x weight.

I had a junk yard tell me a car I was interested in was going to be crushed next week, better hurry up & buy it. Guess what, 8 years later it was still in the junk yard in the same spot!

Well.....at any rate....the car, from what I can SEE, may well be worth $850. Depends on how rusty it is. The engine is not a problem. Guy may take less too.

I once had a guy that owned an old car junkyard in Dallas tell me, "Don't worry, you'll have time to come up with some cash, because I would never crush that car", and a few weeks later, it was placed under a stack of other cars.

The car? A black 1959 Buick Electra 225 flattop. It ended up flat, all right! :banghead3: That sight broke my heart.
I still mourn that loss of that incredible car.

I know it. I have seen that 78 on ebay. It amazes me. Such an awesome machine. If it had the Landau interior option and power windows, well, it would be my ultimate wagon! I still love it as it is.

Yeah, I love this blue 1973.... the fact that it has the Brougham interior option is icing on the cake! You dont see many with the Brougham interior. I have asked him for the additional photos. For $850, I would not mind paying that if I could find some reasonable transport from Atlanta to NE Tennessee. Also its on craigslist and I am leary of sending $850 to someone I have no idea who it is.

Yeah, I was thinking around $300 tops at the crusher, but I have never crushed a car... I thought maybe metal was up or something.

Wix - ugh, how revolting. Makes me wanna puke to think of that. Shame on them to do you like that and shame on them for doing that car like that. Some people have NO respect whatsoever for old cars. :naughty:

Someone should buy this wagon. Weren't there some newbies that came in recently looking for something like this? I seem to remember that. Anyway, the car looks great from here for the money. And I would bet that the paint would rub out real decent.

I hope so. He said if not sold by Tuesday, its going to be crushed. :( I wish I were not 6 hours from Atlanta or I would try to get it, but with work, etc. :(

If I were to buy it I would paint it dark blue that some of these were painted. Would look good with that dark blue interior.

hmm call a transport co. and see what they want. either that or buy they car and find a storage spot nearby, and throw the car in it till you can come up with they money to either fix it enough and drive home, or have a transport co. bring it home. Or option C, rent a uhaul tow dolly an tow her home....if they fix the kingswood...it will have enough power to drag that beautiful ford home!
