You know, I'm not sure how to describe this but I find the rear tail light section without the original caps and lenses visually appealing. It almost (to me) begs for some customization. I wonder if the tall chrome cathedral tail light caps off a 73-74 Olds 98 would fit on that setup. I'm not suggesting you do that, just fantasizing out loud. :D

You're getting there, David!! In the pix, I saw the wagon under the plastic, just like years ago when dealers would keep their new models under wraps until introduction day. You'd best keep an eye out for those "spy photographers"!!

I would like to comment about the Oldsmobile cathedral taillights but I don't dare... however, I guess I will. They all look like cathedrals to me from 71 - 76. I would love to know what year model my 76 Custom Cruiser taillights are from (73 - 74 I think)

David the wagon looks awesome, I have often thought about the perfect combination of my cars. A Toro convertible wagon?

    Sorry if hijacked

I like the way your mind works. Very creative. (y)

I'm a big fan of the '71-'76 Olds tail lamp styling, I drive a '71 98. Hopefully, someday I will do a custom Custom Cruiser. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

71-73 wagon taillights were the tall inset ovals matching the Ninety Eight coupe/sedan for the '71-72 model years. I believe the tails on the '73-74 Ninety Eight were shorter and wider chrome cathedrals with deep inset split lenses and then they got taller and slender for the '75-76 model years (can't find a pic). The wagons remained with the same version as shown on your wagon through the end of the 76 run due to the enhanced rear bumper.

And now....returning the thread back to Dave. :162:

OK, one more. Here is a pic of the 73 tailight (right side) and a 75-76 tail light.

    And now..... back to Dave.

    Fenders are looking good.
The more time you spend the straiter they will be.(y)
Are you going to paint the back side with a spray bomb?
    For preservation. :D

What's a spray bomb? Am I going to epoxy prime the back side? Yes. I will be coating every nook and crannie I possibly can.

Today, it has been wonderful weather, sunny and 68. I have the quarters and roof prepped for priming. Tomorrow will be perfect for it...sunny and 73. Yea! :29:
I will be sure to take some pics of it all taped up and ready, and then some of it all primed. :camera:

What a relief it will be to finally get this coated, and not just sitting in vulnerable bare metal. :whew:

And Rev, you got shotgun! :Woot::character0182:...but don't stand on the seat!

Looking forward to seeing some updated photos. I think we are in for some great weather this week. I really enjoyed working out in the garage today, as I'm sure you did too. Keep up the great work!

Spray bomb = can of spray paint.
    Unpopular term for it.
Anyway, anything shiny with a gloss surface will give you good protection.
    Like a spray enamel.:)
