Dearborn is 40 miles farther but 45+ minutes closer and a hell of alot better drive then the ****ty PA roads.I would rather do the Dearborn show myself. 50 cars being all wagons is alot more fun to me then 500 cars and 10 wagons.

Given the choice between the two I have to picl the Carlisle show. It's 2 hours away and it allows me to take in wagons and hang out with Oldsmobile people as well. And I can drive back cheaper than a hotel costs and sleep in my own bed. And I like driving my car so it's not a sacrifice for me.

    Hey guys!

I said I wanted to go to the Dearborn show, because I got excited about the Ford Museum, etc. But, Carlisle is a huge, fun meet also.

As for the Dearborn show. It is small, but that's because WE haven't decended on it!
If we can get it together and show up in some numbers, then they will obviously have more than 40 or 50 wagons.

I think Carlisle is usually held the week after Hershey, and it is huge! I've been to Hershey a few times, and it is fun...Carlisle should be fun, too!

Guys, I am up for anything. Don't matter much to me...I'm easy!
I can go to Dearborn anytime I want, anytime of year. No big deal.

I will shoot for whatever Fox and Blackie, etc. want to go to. I don't have my heart set on anything, except the possibility of meeting up with a bunch of you guys, and hanging out and having fun with our wagons.

I think it would be fun to meet up and finally put some faces to the names. If we can get a group of guys together at either meet...Yippee! :yahoo:

I fully agree David. If everyone decides to hit Carlisle and not Dearborn, I will be heading south east instead of out west. I will go where the flock congregates. I just know that if I go to Carlisle, I have a pile of work that needs to be done first. Where as Dearborn, its a wagon show and any wagon will be welcomed and appreciated.

LOL...I like your enthusiasm, wix!:D And...you make a good point. If WE all went to that show it would become a considerably larger show. I still feel, however, that the ASWOA show will be a small show. It's only one day whereas Carlisle is huge and 3 days. Obviously, Dearborn is a lot closer for me but I would like to see all the cars I can see. Bottom line? I'm undecided too! LOL I don't like the fact that Carlisle is so far away but I just don't want to go to the ASWOA show and find that it sets up at 9 in the morning and then breaks up at 4 in the afternoon. Probably a lot more real car guys at Carlisle. BUT...the bad point of Carlisle is that it is only GM cars at that show. I don't know....can't make up my mind yet.
    EDIT:
The more I think about wix's idea the more I like it. I would definitely go to the ASWOA show IF we could get at LEAST 10 or more wagons to show up there. I would LOVE to show up with TWENTY or more from this forum! I'm still planning on printing up those static stick, clear banners for our upper windshields! Whose up for Dearborn to make a big showing???

I agree that it sucks that Carlisle is only a GM show. BUT look at the people posting in this thread. All but 2 are GM guys. And then there aren't even 10 guys posting. Not to rain on anyones parade. It would be nice if there were a big show somewhere that was multi manufacturer. The thing I worry about with the wagon show is they seem to me to be more of a stock type wagon group and I am not sure how they might react to a bunch of wagons rolling in as a group with a few very loud ones in the group.

Yeah...we may be a lot of GM here but we LIKE all wagons. With that said I have had the feeling (no proof) that the ASWOA people MAY be a bunch of older guys with wagons. In which case, IF my suspicions are correct, that would make Stick's argument a good one. Even so...I WOULD like to show up at Dearborn with 20 or more wagons from this forum. It would be a gas! And probably get us a lot more members.
I would prefer that Carlisle was a multi show but I will go wherever the most members here want to go. Like wix, one of my main reasons for going is to hook up with a bunch of wagon owners from here. If we could group up our cars at the show it wouldn't make much difference WHERE we were. Where ever we decide I HOPE we can create our own wagon section and be in one group.

ASWOA doesn't have a forum associated with their club so I suspect we may have a few members here already.

I personally would go to Dearborn in favor of Carlilse as I like the smaller shows. More chatting and meeting folks. The fabulous fords forever show I went to had 1,976 cars and it was way too hard to see much and be available at my car as well.

But it's a bit over 2,000 miles for me. Too far away. I'd actually join ASWOA if there was a chapter near here within 100 or so miles. It's hard to make meetings regularly when they are so remote. You east coasters have it good for wagon events. They have one every year in Sturbridge, Ma. in August or September. I think it's a ISWOA (International Station Wagon Owners Association) thing.

oops...TB has thrown in still another ingredient into the pot. But I can't find anything on that group. I Googled iswoa and came up empty. Well, TB, we may have the shows here in the Midwest and East but YOU guys out there have all the cherry wagons! I wish these shows were NOT so far from you...I would love to have you make one of them. Of course...there are TONS of other shows around and I may very well be going to several. There's "Back to the 50's" in MN that's super huge and many, many others. I really don't know why we have settled on just these two. I used to sell at some of the shows. TB makes a good point about the size factor...small being easier to meet and talk to people but I like lots of cars to look at too. As I think more about these shows...neither of them really light my fire but, again, where ever most of the forum members want to go is where I will likely go.

No problem, TB. I just emailed them to find out how many members they have and how many entries they had in last years show.
OK...LOL...I just went to their site and brought up 2 videos that were of their show and they are the videos that Stick posted when he thought this group was the ASWOA...LOL

April and September are both swap meets, not a car show.

Now the May Carlisle Performance & Style is a free for all.

I see. i was under the impression that the spring/fall was a show plus the swap meet, auction, and corral. I guess the nationals is a more dedicated show with top notch cars being showed and prizes being awarded.
