Nice, I loved the drive through Leavenworth and the Cascades along 2 when Deb and I went through in 2018

A few weeks ago Mrs. OrthmannJ and I went to the Seattle area for some Doctor appointments. I snapped a few photos of the Freestyle along the way.

Nothing to spectacular, but it was my chariot of exploration one evening as I found an awesome tiny public beach on the eastern shore of Lake Washington.

We did get a pretty great view from the lookout on Manashtash Ridge on our way home.

We were back in Seattle last week for two more appointments. During Mrs. OrthmannJ’s MRI I had some time to burn, so I went exploring.

I visited one of the local spots we have frequented in the past. The Gasworks Park. Since the last time we visited in 2021 (see post #79 on page 6) they have cut down a large number of trees so you can see the old gasworks from the parking lot.

You can even see the Space Needle in this one

You may also remember post #66 on page five where I came across Hardwick's Hardware store which was closing after 88 years.

I'm happy to report that the building is still standing. But sadly it is in not being preserved. I fully expected it to be gone.

While Mrs. Orthmann was at her appointment I went exploring. I came upon this incredible Greek Orthodox Church.

I was able to go inside and check it out. It had a feel that reminded me of places I would go to when I was a kid living in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

This past week Mrs. Orthmann and I were back in Seattle for another visit to the school of medicine. Once again, while she was at her appointment I had the opportunity to go exploring. I didn’t want to travel far as to not leave her waiting long when her appointment was over.

I had a couple of things I wanted to see if I could locate/figure out. The first stop was an interesting one.

I would not consider myself to be a Bruce Lee “fan” in the traditional sense. But he is a cultural icon and I am always fascinated with people like him and the impact they have. I wanted to visit and pay my respects.

Next I went to Volunteer Park and checked out the Volunteer Park Conservatory. I had seen this place once before, but it was during the covid times. So I was only able to admire it from afar.

In the roundabout in front of the Conservatory is a statue of William Henry Seward.

I didn’t really know anything about Mr. Seward, so this gave me something new to learn about.

Just a short distance from the Conservatory is the Seattle Asian Art Museum.

As with the Volunteer Park Conservatory. I had seen this place once before, but it was during the covid times. So I was only able to admire it from afar. I was very pleased to be able to check it out this time.

There would've been nothing wrong with going in and checking it out. I don't think that doing so would constitute apostasy?
I once entered an Armenian Orthodox church, while they were celebrating mass, decades ago in Dearborn Michigan. They don't kneel in there. It seems like I was standing for hours. Plenty of incense was burned. It was a pleasant experience. I couldn't understand what was said, though. I guess, a traditional Latin mass would also pose a language barrier. Though, not as extreme

It was pretty cool. Very ornate, very "old world".

Love seeing your travels..... That Japanese Art Museum sure needs a thorough power-washing though. Kinda looks sad....
