My 20 year Highschool reunion was supposed to be in 2020, which as you can imagine didn't happen. It also didn't happen this year, which was a bummer. However it got me thinking about how fun it would be to drive the Fury to the reunion, since it was my Highschool car.
One day at work a coworker of mine began talking to me about the Fury. He has a 63 Impala that he is restoring and we like to talk cars. He was telling me how nice the Fury is, but he said "what's the story on the passenger side?"
I explained to him what happened and his reaction was something along the lines of "Dang dude, that sucks." I told him I had always hoped to have it fixed before my 20 year reunion and he asked "Why don't you let me fix it for you?"
Turns out he actually does body work and paint on the side.
I told him I appreciated the offer, but doubted I could afford it. He grinned at me (this guy is a character) and said "Brotha, I got choo!" He looked the car over real well and then proceeded to give me a quote that was way to good to turn down.

So. It appears that someday has finally arrived. I dropped the Fury off at his house last week and he has already begun working on it.

Yeah, I totally get that. I'm very much the same way. But as you said, if you hadn't have mentioned it I never would have known it was there! :) At least, I didn't catch it in my cruise through your entire thread!

That would be awesome to wow everyone at the reunion as you rolled up in the Fury! But that's great you found someone to repair the ol' girl within a budget you can afford! You'll have to share the pics with us as soon as you get her back. :) Although, I'm sure you will anyway! ;)

Jeremiah, does this repair just mean the paint will be matched, or do you plan on a full repaint?

I am not repainting the entire car. Only the section where the repair is being done. He's going to blend it with the old paint.
I just can't bring myself to repaint the entire thing. I also wouldn't be able to afford it!

    .

Perfect .... I am a (retired) professional painter and that is how I would do it .... blend the new paint onto the original and you will never know it was repaired .... and technically speaking antique appraisers consider the car as having "original paint" even though a few spots may have been redone.

I also like the fact you have never repainted the entire car .... I would much rather see original than perfect new paint .... unless the car was a basket case to start with .

New paint is easy ... just throw a bunch of money at it .... original paint is much more rare and valuable in my opinion.

I value the fact that it is the original paint. It's only original once. :thumbs2:

He told me there was about half an inch of bondo in the deepest dent. He said "I'd be a real a-hole if I just filled it back up!"
Thankfully he knows what he's doing, and is doing it the right way.

It's been a busy few weeks and I realized that I forgot to share about our last organized cruise of the year.

    IMG_3080.JPG

It was a fundraiser for the local chapter of Children's Wishes and Dreams.

We had a police escort through town and everything. It was pretty neat. IMG_3083.JPG

I just got a card in the mail from them and it sounds like they raised over four thousand dollars that day. So that was pretty cool.

Totally agreed! I can't agree with your sentiments any more than that!

Sweeeeeeet! I have a great deal of respect for anyone who appreciates the factory paint on their car. Especially a survivor car, so good on ya'! :thumbs2: Looks like she's comin' along nicely too!

I never would have guessed there was any issues with your wagon. So glad to here and see you're able to get it taken care of. I think you should take you wagon to that reunion, if you ever get to it and present the bill to that silly girl. o_O smashing up peoples cars... she should have offered to help you out at the time.

Can you imagine her face :biglaugh:

Looks like he's making good progress.

Little bit of mud to smooth things out:
