I got curious about the photo of the Burlington, Vermont airport terminal, which to me looks like it may have been built in the late 50's - early 60's. Photo appears to have been taken in the mid 70's some time, based on the vehicles in the lot.

Anyway, I checked Google Earth, and this terminal building with control tower are completely gone, replaced by a many times larger terminal, a new tower, and a huge parking structure.

It's sad. Same thing is happening with our "speedway" here in Yakima. The land has been sold. The weeds are already taking over. No farewell season. Just "boop" all done.

Yeah - Happened in So Cal - a lot. Lions Raceway (drag strip) gone; Ascot Speedway (famous short-track, dirt) - gone; Ontario Motor Speedway (superspeedway) - gone; Orange County Raceway (drag strip) - gone. El Cajon Speedway, down San Diego way (short track dirt - went to a race there once...) - gone

We've got a short track here, down in Cottage Grove, about 20 miles south. I've yet to go see a race there though......

 

Better go before it's too late.

 

Most definitely. I told myself I was going to go some time this summer, but, 'best laid plans', yada yada yada........
