I'm now a wagon owner. Picked up a 1965 Falcon Futura wagon in the original Ivy Green color. It has the 2bbl 289 that runs but is pretty anemic right now, auto trans that shifts but the selector gates are almost smooth, drum brakes all around that have a firm pedal and will stop the car...eventually, interior that is complete as well as completely trashed, and even came with what I'm pretty sure is the original spare!! The only thing I'd consider serious rust is in the drivers area pan but being a Falcon I should be able to source a replacement easy enough. The rear drivers quarter is dented in but I dont see any real crease or crumple so I'm hoping I'll be able to pop it out somewhat cleanly. It needs a lot of work but it's a runner so that's a plus. Blah blah words, who cares right?! Heres some pics...
Yeah, this has a lot of potential. Will you just be restoring it as-is, concours restoration, or a restomod?
Thanks! Progress will be slow but I'll post progress as it goes. It wont be concours and that's all I know for sure. Sorting out any issues is priority right now since it will be an ongoing driving project. I dont think i have enough money to actually consider it a restomod but I'll be leaning in that direction I suppose. Hopped up drivetrain, disk brakes, etc. Budget restomod?
Congrats on the Falcon! It looks like a very solid car. Having restored a 63 Falcon Ranchero, I can tell you that some parts will be incredibly easy to source. Others are pure unobtainium. Budget restomod? I like the sound of that.
That's what my Ranchero,Babe is, so far. The U-Pull yards used to be a help, but everything that would work, is now long-gone, and I haven't begun looking at much newer parts to retrofit.
