It was either '65 or '6 which was the last year for solid columns. In 1967, collapsable columns were definitely mandated. I would think that it wouldn't be a problem, in order to update an older vehicle of that series with a later column. The best way would be to just not get into a wreck
JaySco my advice is to pass on this, car has been sitting for years in the desert for years, so even with rust not being an issue the engine, brakes, brake lines, transmission gaskets, hoses, seals and electrical wiring would have to replaced, I'm sure. The work required to get to these might be beyond your level, and to have to pay to have it done (which I did on a working driving car) is not for the 'limited" budget person. its costly, mostly labor. Once that's all squared away you still have the interior to deal with plus all the surprises that you will find along the way. Its more than my stomach and patience could endure. But that's me good luck
want to buy my 85 Colony Park? its for sale, posted here and on cars on line.com search under station wagons
No thanks. Its beautiful but it's clear across the country and it's about 10yrs newer than what I'm looking for. Good luck with the sale though.
How times have changed. It used to be that a 10 year older car was harder to get rid of. Incidently, the vote's in at 2 to 1
I agree with jaunty. Price to purchase the car would be the deciding factor for me. Sounds like from your second to last post that you have decided to pass on this one after all. Good luck with your search.
Yes, I've decided to pass. It can indeed be a project car, good base and good price. It would just require way too much time and effort to even get it roadworthy, that's before even getting into the cosmetics and comfort. A 73 Olds Vista just posted on CL recently that's pretty much what I'm looking for. Got my Jeep on Ebay now hoping for a quick sale so I can throw my money straight into someone's hands.
Not a bad alternative. Vistas have a charm of their own. That doesen't mean that the Polara should just sit there and rot, though
It's too bad--a couple years ago a Vista Cruiser of the same model year as that one (IIRC, I still have all the pics) was for sale on here, and even though the price reflected the fact the car hardly needed any major work, it was a beautiful wagon. BTW, your header doesn't list where you're from.
Did you say '73 Vista Cruiser? In Orange County...... https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/d/san-clemente-1973-oldsmobile-vista/6954513441.html
