It's certainly worth buying, IMO. It shares the contemporary Mustang's underpinings and has a thrifty six-banger. Despite having a nice interior and light-alloy wheels, the seller is concealing too much from us that would justify high bidding. From here, it's not possible to determine if there's more Bondo than metal, in there. We don't get to see the engine, either.
I'd go there and stay cautious. Bid only as much as you have to and if the bidding gets out of hand, back out. It's the bidders who don't know what they're doing who are the ones to ruin it and get the object way too over-priced.
If there's little demand for this vehicle, you could get a bargain

    less than $1000.

About a year ago I picked up an 1985 Mercury Marquis (aka the areo zephyr) locally. It was in similar condition maybe a little better and a very low option model like this Fairmont too. I paid $900 for it. There was a '79 fairmont wagon listed locally on CL for about 2 years before it was sold or hauled off. They were asking $2500.

So... buy it for the buyers premium! $1,000 minimum. So if it sells for $2k, you actually have to pay $3,000! My guess is i will pass. I’ll open it at 1,000. And let it go.

It was a PA car. Had a bad respray and a fair amount of rust. Seats all torn. Dash badly faded. I didn’t even put 1,000 on it Incase I got it. That 3300 is really 4300 because of the buyer premium.

I would like to include a pic, but only once have I ever been able to load a pic on this site and I remember it took quite a while and a lot of gyrations. I pick to load a file. It spins away for awhile and leaves me with an option to ‘choose file’ or ‘close’. No idea what happens with whatever it did.

Anyway, wasn’t a wagon. So I wasn’t sure if it was ok to post here.... Lot G210.
