I posted the start of buying this car in another thread under wagon discussion and want to move to this thread for the fun stuff....TEARDOWN AND RESTORE! today I pulled the front bumper since she couldn't be saved....the front came off pretty easy...just alot of blaster and good old muscles to take it off....since it is bent to hell and back and rusty she will be going to the scrap yard along with the back bumper....the back bumper I was not able to finish getting off as the mosquitos were coming out and feasting on me...did include some pics
We'll be watching this thread with much anticipation..... BTW, according to A LOT of people on the internet, the correct spelling is "bumber".........
Oh also to let you guys know I picked up a '65 ford 289 that I posted in the other thread...now all I need is a 3 spd manual tranny (column shift as that is the way it was stock).....this is going to be a stocker wagon all the way....interesting enough this is a true v8 wagon....when I bought it it came with the original a/c and 8" rearend.....to the best of my research there are about 183 falcon 2 dr wagons for '65 registered nationwide but how many true v8's are there?

I am assuming part # relating to the engine? Oh that # is C5AE-6015-E stamped on the block....alot of the parts are interchangeable with the '65 mustang
No, the Trans and shifter parts. That's gotta be one tough part to score, or were they used in light trucks as well. And the shifter linkage?
Since I am in the Falcon Club of America I have some connections on getting those hard to find parts....I am going to put the 3 spd manual tranny back in the car as it originally had it along with the column shift....was thinking about a floor shifter but because of the rarity I will just seal up the hole in the tunnel
progress this AM.....wuhhhhh! I finally got the back bumper off as some of the bolts seized up....what a bitch when they snap off when you have a socket on them.....a shame the bumper is bent up and just too rusty to rechrome....anyway I also got the tailgate off as it was really rusty on the bottom.....also the glass window was going up on just the one side..fortunately during dismantling it I was able to save the rear tailgate glass....found out that the roller had worn away on the track....got some more pics for you all to enjoy.....gotta run to the metal yard to get rid of some detroit metal and make a few pennies
Hey man definetly missing some pieces of skin after that....the tailgate was actually much worse and really wasn't even repairable.....I also had to cut the bolts off since they were seized to get to the salvageable glass
I always have a bottle of peroxide for rusty dustings on the flesh. You just never know what else got trapped in that rust. And those big-a$$ finger bandages to get right back at 'er. No pain, no gain.
the only major problem that I see with this car is the roof and I am still not sure how I am going to attack it.....it is going to be either a roof reskin or patch around the outer edges and hopefully not warp the metal.....the severity of the damage can be seen on the other thread in wagon discussions
