I think it looks great from what we can see.

$9900 is a bit steep for a car with transmission problems.

.... and the original muffler....on 180k miles? the trans sounds like a simple adjustment problem. My old THD400 has an electric solenoid kick down. Maybe just a forgotten wire after install.

I think the seller is a forum member and this car is on a previous link. I looked at it in San Diego and think I posted my findings at the time. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t go into reverse.

My 65 Merc had it's original exhaust system until I redid everything in 2010. 45 years out of an exhaust system is pretty good service. The car has low mileage (52k) but still. This is one reason I'm glad I'm not in Penna. anymore.

Checked the old forum comments and saw the one pic. Did the car have a white top before? Seller mentions the car's truly rust free and that the paint was in decent shape in 2016. Kinda surprised he painted the car but the rebuilt tranny only has 200 miles on it.... unless that's tranny #3 or he sorted the cosmetics before the mechanicals.

Also, odometer was stuck in low 80k mile range 2 years ago. So the car's mileage could be significantly less than the 180k I was thinking. It could have 90k on it, hence the cherry interior.

My 77 colony park, 41 years original exhaust.
I like this wagon. Mechanical problems to us northerners is nothing. Its next to impossible to find rust free example of a..... well just about anything. We take the ones from down south with mechanical problems no one else wants.

Agreed. Mechanical problems are easily solved if the car is solid, and this one appears to be.

Yes after also looking at the picture and jogging my memory, it did have a white top. I'm guessing he just painted the roof but I could be wrong. I do believe the miles to be correct at less than 100K but not sure how many miles were on the replaced motor. The exhaust pipe or muffler, I now remember was crunched and I was wondering how it ran being so restricted. I can look at the car for anyone if they are interested. I'm also not exactly sure what the $800 fuel sending unit is in the ad because a fuel pump is maybe $75.00.

Fuel sending unit would be in the tank and is different from the fuel pump. If he had a shop do the work it could be $800. Not sure what rebuilding of it entails though. Normally you replace them, but that might not have been an option for this car.

Good point. Forgot about the tank. Yes most likely had to drop it to change the sending unit.

There are no new ones available so therefore you have to rebuild the originals
