Ugly banana yellow. But, the paint chips are reason enough to paint it whatever looks good against that red interior. Is that front sway bar original? He doesen't mention it, as a modification. But, the NASCAR reputation leaves me to suspect these bars were factory. I'd like to see the headers. Back then, they were able to paint woodgrain, instead of having to develop stickers for low-skilled assembly line workers
Me thinks that ugly banana yellow is it's original color. I like it. Now, if we'd like to split hairs - how about that windshield wiper switch - I didn't know they had those fonts like that back in the 50s!
I noticed that as well. I'd be willing to bet the original wipers operated on vacuum and at some point they were upgraded to electric.
One could upgrade the existing vacuum wiper motor, by adding a modern supplementy vacuum tank. Good eye. That can't be the original windshield washer knob. No way
This one just sold for over one million dollars. https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2018/...ops-hostetler-museum-sale-sets-marque-record/ Then, just another used racing car, the Hudson was cast aside, shot with a coat of primer and street-driven by its buyer. It dropped off the radar completely until the 1970s
Factory color combination. Wiper knob indicates the owner converted from vacuum wipers to an electric conversion, which is readily available for the Hudson. It replaces the vacuum motor at the center of the engine side of the firewall. The knob is obviously new and part of that system. The original looks exactly like the radio and headlight knobs, and probably didn't fit the shaft of the new switch. And yes, the Hornet above sold this past weekend at the Hostetler Hudson Collection auction in Shipshiwana, IN for $1.2M.
I like it, twin H powered 4-door, that was a sleeper back in the day. Even with the auto gearbox. I could learn to like the unusual colors on it. Won't loose it at the orphan car show!
Now this is what I imagine when I think of a Hudson hornet. I’m with ivy that banana yellow is fugly. I’m not always a coup kinda person but I think if we’re to be in the market for one of these I would be shooting for a two door... unless there was an $85,000 price difference....
