I posted this same question on FB>I don't hold much hope in an actual answer but call me a glutton for punishment....I am seeing these but not seeing these on the 1965 Mercury wagons, presumably a Commuter or Colony Park. I'm wondering what Mercury wagon this actually goes to? https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1965-F...m=162978251669&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
I found this picture. It does appear to be for the 1965 Mercury and it apparently fits both the car and wagon. The fuel doors are quite different but the configuration must be the same where it mounts. I was asking the wrong question. Anyone with a 1965 Mercury have this and will it fit other years?
Owner of a 65 Park Lane hardtop sedan here....I have a fuel guard (Chrome NOS) somewhere in the garage here that was in the trunk of the car when I got it, still in its Fomoco paper holder. It looks nothing like this. It has the dimple for your finger and is much more substantial than this. The passenger cars' filler door opens to the side whereas the wagons opens from the bottom up, so they are different. But what makes me wonder, is it possible that it's from a Comet wagon?
Since the package has the part number, go to Green Sales Co.'s website and plug it it, see if it comes up; if it does, it should say what application it's for.
Yeah, sometimes things don't show up because I think the listings are just what they have in stock, but it's always worth a shot.
Sorry, but now my memory got jarred. I don't have it anymore! I remembered once I started looking through my stash that I gave it (really!) to a close friend for his 65 Montclair (He's a really good friend). But I'll have to ask him if he ever put it on. Now you got me wondering if he did......He's in PA - I'm in NM!
